Casa de Colores is a charming high-desert retreat on over an acre just outside Santa Fe, with exposed wood beams, mountain views, and beautiful New Mexico sunrises and sunsets. Enjoy coffee on the shaded patio, comfortable interiors with AC, and a second living area. Sleeps 4 with 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, and is just 20 minutes from the Santa Fe Plaza. Traveling with a dog? The fully fenced yard even has a playful window at dog height.
The Space:
Casa de Colores is a single level adobe home on over an acre in Eldorado, the high desert community southeast of Santa Fe. Inside, exposed wood beams and plank ceilings give the living and dining rooms real character, and three mini split units mean real air conditioning in summer and steady heat in winter, which is not a given in this part of New Mexico. Outside, coyote fencing wraps the entire property, with a window cut into it at dog height so your dog can watch the world go by.
The layout is simple and it works. A generous living room anchors the house around a sculpted kiva fireplace, decorative only and not available for guest use, and the kitchen and dining area open onto the patio through a sliding glass door. The two bedrooms sit on opposite sides of the living room for a private experience, with an en suite bathroom in the primary and a second full bathroom across the hall. The converted garage adds a whole second living area with a couch, a rocking chair, and the laundry, and its door can be opened wide to bring the outdoors in. Hand painted desert murals turn a couple of the interior doors into artwork of their own.
Whether you are in town for the galleries and the Plaza, heading out to the trails, or simply looking for a quiet base with a safe yard for your dog, Casa de Colores gives you room to settle in and slow down, with stellar views of the surrounding mountains featuring New Mexico's famous sunrises and sunsets.

Sleeping Arrangements
Total occupancy: 4 guests
Total beds: 2
The two bedrooms sit on opposite sides of the living room for privacy, which makes the home easy for a couple traveling together or two pairs sharing the house.
Bedroom 1, the primary, is the larger of the two rooms, with a king bed, an en suite bathroom, a walk in closet, and a desk by the window.
Bedroom 2 has a queen bed and works well for a second couple, a single guest, or kids.
Bathrooms
Casa de Colores has two full bathrooms. The primary bedroom has an en suite with a tub and shower behind a tiled surround, and a second full bathroom with a walk in glass door shower sits across the hall. Standard bath amenities are provided, including shampoo, conditioner, body soap, fresh towels, and a hair dryer in each bathroom.
Living Areas
The living room is the largest space in the house, set under exposed wood beams and a plank ceiling, anchored by a sculpted kiva fireplace. Seating includes a sofa, a love seat, and two additional chairs, with a smart TV for streaming. Lamps and ceiling fixtures give the room a warm glow after dark, and every window has a treatment so you can control light and privacy. Please note that the kiva fireplace is decorative only and is not available for guest use.
Kitchen & Dining
The kitchen is well equipped for a home this size, with a full size refrigerator, stove and oven, dishwasher, microwave, garbage disposal, toaster, and two coffee makers so you can brew a full pot or pull a single cup. Cookware, dishes, glassware, silverware, and cooking utensils are all stocked, the tile counters give you room to spread out, and a window over the counter frames a nice view of the Jemez range. The dining area sits under an exposed beam and plank ceiling, seats four at a round table, and a sliding glass door opens straight out to the flagstone patio, which makes moving a meal outside easy.
Outdoor Space
The outdoor space is what sets this home apart. Just off the kitchen, a stucco walled courtyard opens to two flagstone patios beneath a mature shade tree, and in all there are four outdoor seating areas, from lounge seating on the flagstone to Adirondack chairs out in the open yard with long views across the high desert to the mountains beyond. Prepared food and drinks are welcome in the flagstone sitting area; please use the grill on the gravel by the water spigot and half barrel rather than on the flagstone, which protects the new stone. Exterior lighting keeps the patios and walkways comfortable after sunset. Coyote fencing encloses the whole property, over an acre, with a window cut in at dog height, so your dog gets the run of the yard and a view to go with it.
Converted Garage
The garage has been converted into a relaxed second living space with a couch, a rocking chair, local artwork, and the laundry area. The garage door can be opened wide, which turns the room into a shaded, open air lounge on warm afternoons with the fenced yard and the mountains in view.

The Neighborhood:
Eldorado at Santa Fe is a residential high desert community set on wide, open lots along the US 285 corridor, about 20 minutes southeast of downtown Santa Fe. It is one of the largest solar communities in the country and takes its dark skies seriously, which makes for excellent stargazing on clear nights. The pace here is quiet and rural, with a grocery store, restaurants, and shops close by. The surrounding high desert is popular for hiking and biking, including the trails of the nearby Eldorado Preserve. Downtown Santa Fe, with the Plaza, Canyon Road galleries, Museum Hill, and the farmers market, is about 20 minutes northwest.
Getting Around:
A car is recommended for this home. Eldorado is a residential community southeast of Santa Fe, and reaching downtown, trailheads, restaurants, and the grocery store means driving. Downtown Santa Fe is about 20 minutes northwest via US 285. Ride share service can be limited this far from town, so we recommend having your own vehicle. The driveway holds up to 4 vehicles at no charge.

Our local Sierra Sol team is a message or call away throughout your stay and is always happy to share recommendations.
