Lovely grounds, charming room (we picked the "Parlor" room) and could not have been happier. It had been a week of heavy rains throughout California, so our decision to go to Santa Barbara and stay at the Simpson House was rather "last minute". We decided to go to a local Orchid Festival, and we were fortunate in our use of Expedia to get is in at the Simpson. The reception was personal, as we were greeted at our car as we drove in. Barbara showed us to our room and all went just better-and-better from there. There was an evening "happy hour", and they served enough wine and hors 'd oeuvres (prepared in their own kitchen} that it could have made a complete meal. The evening was quiet and restful with a fire in the fireplace. The next morning they started serving coffee at 7:30, and a fine breakfast at 8:30, all included. Don't miss the home-made "puff-pastries" if they are being served. We were out by 10:30 am, but hope to be back some time soon. For ambience and customer service, the Simpson House Inn was near the top of our "best ever" list.
