I regret needing to leave this negative review, but it's my only remaining option after trying to appeal to reason.
Despite the owner being hospitalized by an unfortunate accident at least a week prior, the property was still accepting guests when we arrived. They have since paused bookings, confirming they know the situation is unworkable, yet they refuse to give us any refund.
We arrived to locked gates with no response from any of the contact numbers. We thought we'd been scammed! When someone finally answered, they suggested we stay elsewhere, until they realized they’d have to refund us. So the owner’s friends and family tried their best to check us in. No management, ants everywhere, no cleaning in our apartment, no laundry facilities (despite being advertised), no breakfast at a B&B, a malfunctioning toilet, spreading our family across different apartments because of ants in one bed.
After two stressful nights, we left. When I heard back from the owner days later, she said I should have reported the issues in real-time. Via text while she was in hospital on medication. We didn't because she had never replied to any of my previous messages; the only comms we had were from friends who had no knowledge of the property.
The air conditioning worked well, at least (though was only present in one of the two SCIROCCO rooms).
