Stay is awesome itâs in the country so definitely country vibes! I did host small party for my 15 year old daughter and they loved the house itâs historic vibes, property manager did come and greet us he is on the property separate from where we stayed.Pool was awesome at night so beautiful and refreshing!! My kids even got great swim before checking out. My family and friends had so much fun and there is chickens and roosters walking around caught several cardinals and pretty humming bird early in the morning so pretty. The only thing is carpet in the kitchen and living room area however my guest didnât mind taking off there shoes if you are not okay then wear socks.
Great people operating this VRBO. No issues with accommodations except the kitchen/frig is a pretty awkward arrangement, especially for large groups. Updated, classic turn of the century (1900) structure without ruining the "old" effect that we wanted the grandkids to sense. Enjoyed the privacy with any help needed (and there was not any) within earshot. P.S. GG daughter really enjoyed the chickens!
We normally gather with 60 family members but this year our immediate family of 10 & 2 littles ran away instead of buying a bunch of presents. My 90 yr old Mamaw snuck away with us. The property was peaceful and beautiful. Owners live on site and were so available and helpful. The home was clean and beautiful with Christmas trees and decor. EverytHing we needed and comfortable clean beds. Only problem we had was Mamaw getting into the house from the car. There are steps at back door with no hand rails and walk to front door was little far for her but she managed. The beds upstairs are lower to ground. Down stairs are high and first night was rough because she cant go upstairs but owner found us a homemade step that helped night 2 & 3 after I spoke to him about the issue. Only other problem was getting in front gate. Code to padlock is very hard to see and manipulate at night.. 3 of us left for church Christmas Eve and they locked the gate on us while we were out. Thankfully my son was at the house and came out to help open lock. We loved the outdoor fireplace but indoor fire place by the pool which a few of us took a polar plunge. 2 nice shower upstairs, tub/shower downstairs. The views are beautiful and sitting in living room accommodated our large group. However chairs in dining room are little rough. But the ones in 2 other dining areas were very nice. So we borrowed them for our time and returned on exiting. The listing had hot tub listed.when we booked.. NO HOT TUB!
Everything was perfect for my son's wedding. Everyone had a wonderful time. Walter is very easy to accommodate and work with. Beautiful trees to have a wedding ceremony.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this great house. We loved the history of the property. The owner had great communication. The pool was one of the favorites among the group. If we are ever in the area, we will definitely stay at this property again. Thank you!!!!
Property was beautiful! Charming old ranch house with many quirky historical features. Lots of space to spread out. Outdoor space is the best- Fabulous pool and outdoor BBQ area. Beds are very comfy.
Perfect for our family of 8 adults, 2 kids under 8 years
We enjoyed our stay! I love old houses and this one was so fun to stay in a few days. Everyone enjoyed the pool that we stayed in too long and several of us were sun burned. Daisy the ranch dog is so sweet. She would hang around when we sat outside. She is a true country dog. My little pom actually chased the chickens. They were bigger than she is!!! If you stay here, you must remember it is a 1906 house and a working ranch. Thatâs what makes it so unique! We had a great time! You can also drive into Castroville for great BBQ at Blu Lacey BBQ. Phenomenal is all I can say about their food!!
Our 4 children and their families joined us for a few days. There was room for all of us to stay comfortably. The hosts even had toys and games for all ages, even the babies! We enjoyed the nice pool and outdoor areas. Our stay include a little steel back in time, with the lovely older part of the house. The kitchen/great room area with comfortable and well-appointed and comfortable.
The house is old, over 100 years old, but in decent shape. It does lean in some areas. The house was not in very clean condition. Lot's of insects and the pool was swarming with bee's while the kids were trying to swim. One kid was stung on the first day. We didn't realize there would be other animals, dogs, cat, and chickens on the property as we brought our two small dogs with us. This wasn't an issue, just not sure of what to expect with the unexpected encounters. The family living on the property and the workers were nice. The rooms were comfortable. While there was a washer and dryer, it is not located within the house.
Overall we were overjoyed with our experience on this property as well as our interactions with Walter! The experience was above our expectations and really brought mine and my partners families together during our wedding time. We have already talked about renting again at some point, thatâs how much we loved it! Such a gorgeous property. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Our family had a wonderful reunion at Cardinal Pointe Ranch. The 100 year old ranch house is beautiful and is filled with antiques and collectibles. It was very comfortable except for an issue with the upstairs A/C. However, this was fixed as quickly as possible. The property is beautiful, and we enjoyed it very much. The owners were responsive to questions and comments. Although the ranch is close to the city, it felt like we were out it the country. Lovely place! Thank you, Walter!
This property is exactly what we were looking for to host a special family gathering in San Antonio. The charm and uniqueness of the historic house is so much better than staying in hotel rooms and having the event in a conference center. The free range chickens, cows and especially Daisy and Gus (friendly cow dogs on property) made it feel warm and welcoming and especially fun for the kids. Also, the 1925 thrasher out in the pasture made my dad smile as it was much like what he remembered working with as a young boy on the farm.
When we arrived the owner came out and met us like we anticipated however he NEVER left, he was in/out of the house durng our stay. This was my daughters sweet 16 and he was disrupting the party as well as my guest. He even went as far as standing outside the gate of the property picking and choosing who could park ON the property and who had to HIKE it to the house!
The kitchen had limited supplies to cook which confused me because I was clear we were hosting an event, he also came early the next morning before we checked out he began demanding an additional fundd stating he counted my guest and I had to pay per head because I went "over a certain limit" they didnt spend the night, they didnt stay past cerfew, they literally were just there for the festivities. Save your money OR go elsewhere if you want to ENJOY your stay.
This was the second time we stayed at a ranch in San Antonio and was excited that it was a historical home. We were disappointed in the lack of privacy we had there. The listing was misleading when it read it was a working ranch and people would be around the area. People are coming in and out of the house we were residing at with no notice to us. We anticipated the kitchen to be fully stocked to cook for at least 10-12 people. The kitchen had very minimal cooking supplies. The living area and kitchen had carpet which was very filthy due to the amount of traffic use it had in the past. The only good part of the stay was the rooms were magnificent! Each from was decorated and was very comfortable. So if you just need a place to lay your head this is it but if you are looking for a peaceful getaway, this might not be the place for you.
Picturesque location where our two families and close friends could mingle, enjoy the pool, BBQ, evening activities and most of all a beautiful wedding ceremony.
Loved it over all. Would say just a lot of wasp by the pool and so many flies in the outside gazebo. But other then that we had an amazing time! Thank yâall for having us.
The pool was refreshing with the temperatures and heat index so high.
The upstairs air conditioner went out the first night and we emailed Walter at 11 pm and he had it working by 12:45 am.
Enjoyed the queit country setting complete with ducks, dog, cat, and a few deer.
Walterâs home is beautiful and spacious. The perfect place for our little celebration. The pool was awesome and everyone loved it! I will definitely be coming back in the future.
Walter is totally responsive - we stayed here two weekends in a row while attending a big tournament at a nearby sporting complex.
The historic home, sheds, barn & church are all really cool!
