History all around us! This bridge may not look like much, but it has quite the history. Completed in September of 1869 it spanned the San Joaquin river and officially connected Oakland, CA to Sacramento, CA completing a critical section of the Transcontinental Railroad, four months after the historic meeting at Promontory Point in Utah. It wasn't until a bridge was completed in 1873 across the Missouri River connecting Council Bluffs and Omaha that the country would be truly linked by Railroad!
