Mallard ducks were hanging out along the Fox River at the Fabyan Forest Preserve.

This is a stone structure found in the Fabyan Forest Preserve. I cannot find any specific information on what it was used for, but in the early 1900s, an eclectic millionaire had transformed this place into a little wonderland including a Japanese garden, Dutch windmill, and a caged house that contained three bears. This place was a very interesting find.

One of the few places in Illinois you can spot these magnificent birds on a regular basis. The call of this bird might be the most hideous in the wild. It sounds like a rusty door hinge and is very distinct. This is a bird you always hear before you see. These are very rare in Illinois.
