Primosten is just a short trip from Sibenik - the âgateway to the Kornati Islandsâ - and not a place to overlook while you are in this part of the world. This often underrated urban gem boasts historical wonders, uncrowded coastline and amazing wine - not to mention being one of the locations for the filming of the popular TV show, Game of Thrones. Youâll find the famous Cathedral of St James here, as well as the city museum, the impressive Franciscan Church and Monastery, and St Michaelâs Castle, all stunning pieces of architecture that are well-worth visiting.
When youâve taken in the sights and built up an appetite, why not sample some local cuisine at one of the many seafood restaurants that can be found hidden among the winding streets. Adriatic lobster, sea bass, squid and langoustines are all plentiful here - and be sure to wash it all down with some local wine. Winery Rak has been a family run operation in the area since 1960 and uses Babic and Marastine grapes to produce its white, red and rose wines. The small-scale production of this winery means itâs unlikely that youâll be able to sample these wines in the UK, so once youâve sampled their wares in their dedicated tasting room, be sure to snare a bottle to take home!
