The Closed Canyon hike in Big Bend Ranch State Park was completely deserted when we went on a Tuesday in April. We hiked further than the 0.7 mile indicated on the signage, and ended up scooting and scrambling up the most interesting narrow and smooth chutes. We heard the song of the elusive canyon wren, too. Amazing. Planet Marfa is a must when in the area.. From the outside its very un assuming.. But the bar and courtyard atmosphere is just too cool, there even a small school bus and a teepee as hang out areas.
