Secluded Algarve Yurt Retreat in a Peaceful Forest Valley

Tucked into a forested valley in the western Algarve, Valley of the Cross offers a different kind of stay. Two spacious handcrafted yurts surrounded by nature, with plenty of room to slow down, spend time outdoors and enjoy a quieter side of southern Portugal.

Your booking includes both yurts exclusively for your group, sleeping up to six guests. The setup works especially well for families, friends or two couples travelling together who want to share the experience while still having their own separate sleeping space.

The yurts have warm circular interiors, clear central roof domes that bring in natural light and views of the sky above, and private outdoor seating areas overlooking the surrounding countryside.

• Two single beds in each space, which can be positioned together if preferred

AMENITIES

Valley of the Cross is fully off-grid, with electricity generated and stored onsite using solar power.

• Two private composting toilets, with one located conveniently beside each yurt
• Private enclosed showers in the nearby shower block
• Towels and bedding provided
• A small gas stove in both yurts for boiling water
• Complimentary tea and coffee

There is currently no full guest kitchen or refrigerator. We are creating a dedicated outdoor guest kitchen, which will be added once complete.

OUTDOOR SPACE

Much of the experience here happens outside.

Both yurts have their own private seating areas, giving you somewhere to enjoy morning coffee, read under the trees, have an evening drink or simply take in the surrounding valley.

Guests also have access to our 3 × 6 metre outdoor swimming pool, with sun loungers and an outdoor shower. The pool is available year-round and may occasionally be shared with guests staying in our separate guest house. The yurts, their seating areas, showers and toilets remain private to your booking.

Beyond the accommodation, the property extends into forest, hillside and open countryside, with walking routes around the land and plenty of space to explore or simply find somewhere quiet to sit.

LOCATION

Despite the secluded setting, some of the Algarve's beautiful beaches are around 15 minutes away by car, making Valley of the Cross a great base for combining time on the coast with a quieter stay inland.

The property is reached along a maintained, unpaved countryside driveway suitable for a normal car. We strongly recommend having your own vehicle, as public transport in the surrounding area is limited.

A STAY CLOSE TO NATURE

Valley of the Cross is intentionally simple, rural and connected to its surroundings. You should expect birdsong, insects, uneven ground, unpaved paths and the everyday realities of staying in the countryside.

We do not try to turn the setting into a polished resort experience. The character of the place comes from the landscape, the space around you and the chance to spend a few days living a little closer to nature.

Up to two dogs are welcome. As the grounds are open to the surrounding countryside and are not enclosed, dogs must remain on a lead while outside.
