On 10 June 1944, the village of Oradour-sur-Glane was destroyed by the Nazis in just a few hours. Only 5 of the 647 people in the town that day survived.
Meteorite impact site from 207 million years ago. One of the 15 largest meteorites to ever hit the Earth. Although the meteorite itself was dissolved on impact, these impactites were made when the local rocks were super-heated. Visit the nearby chĂąteau (which is now an art museum) and the meteorite history walk. There is also a small meteorite museum in town that is well worth a look.
