We chose Podgora this year, on account of bringing along our son and his fiancée, who both enjoy snorkelling. Podgora has a reputation for offering good snorkelling possibilities. And so we needed to find a nice house, and fell for Iva Pezers villa. And boy, did we find the spot we were hoping for! One step through the gate and we were blown away. The views over the Adriatic Sea in one direction and the Biokovo mountain range in the other is breathtaking. And inbetween, there´s this absolute gem of a house, with a glistening blue pool set among lemon trees. One hundred and twentyfive steps will take you down into Podgora centre with it´s many restaurants and cafes. Trekking back is slightly tougher, but hey - the stairs lead up to heaven, so what´s the problem?
The house itself is immaculately clean and has everything you could possibly hope for with a well equipped kitchen and cool, airconditioned spaces including a beautiful sitting room and two spacious bedrooms, each with their own bathroom. Outside, there is a large patio that is quite problematic - it will have you thinking that you may want to spend the entire holiday there, under the gorgeous shades, instead of venturing out to see a bit of Podgora. The solution is to have looong breakfasts and coffee breaks before undertaking such adventures.
We established a kind of rhytm along the way. It was much like the slow, leisurely pulse of the Adriatic Sea. We did that breakfast, and then we took to the beaches to the north, secluded and less frequented, had some nice snorkelling there, came back, had a shower and a dip in the pool, then back we went to the beach...
It is a kind of life that one can get used too. And no house can offer a better backdrop for this kind of existency than this quaint and stunning villa. Unless you have a very good excuse not to or unless we have re-rented the property - go there!
