Camp Leland · Dog Friendly 4-Season Cabin + Garage, meadow view

Summary:
Tiny & cozy cabin, an oversized garage & level yard at 6300' is perfect for big adventures or quiet, cozy mountain relaxation! The cabin is small, but the wilderness that unfolds from the covered porch is endless. Every alpine adventure you could wish for is within reach, from Strawberry to Pinecrest or up to Sonora Pass. Enjoy relaxing by the meadow, at the community lake or hit nearby trails and hook wild trout in nearby streams & lakes! Dark sky, silent nights and amazing scenery are here.

The Space:
Our cabin at Leland Meadows is ideal for 2-4 guests, plus 1-2 pups. It definitely hits tiny-home status in all the right ways. You'll have everything you need for comfort and relaxation. Guests have access to the extra-large garage as well - making 4-season use even easier. Bring all the gear, and park out of the weather.

Outside there's a spacious porch with bench (and boot storage underneath) and Adirondack chairs to relax on. Inside on the main floor we have an efficient kitchen ready to cook: fridge/freezer, salt & spices + olive oil & vinegar are stocked, gas oven & stove, convection microwave, cookware and place settings + glassware for 4.

We provide a complete coffee setup too: electric kettle, Keurig, drip coffee maker and French press, plus an assortment of pods, whole beans and some tea packets are here to enjoy.

There's a small table for dining at plus a spacious futon with throw blankets for warmth & a 43" FireTV. We use Starlink with "pretty good" connectivity... just fine for streaming entertainment with an occasional pause (just being real).

**Note: we don't have a dishwasher, so handwashing is necessary**

Guest Access:
Guests will have access to the cabin and our oversized garage. The driveway is mostly level and the walkway around the garage to the front of the cabin is level too. We have plowed county roads into the community and contract for plow service all winter as well. Depending on the severity of winter storms there may be fresh snow on the ground - be prepared!

We will send you a set of house rules, which will include garage rules too... bottom line is to treat it well, no wrenching/servicing/fueling vehicles in the garage. "Leave no trace".

The Neighborhood:
High alpine meadows, mountain and lake, in a private community at 6300' elevation. This is the highest elevation 4-season community in Tuolumne County (along Hwy 108). Adventure, natural beauty, wilderness exploration and lake-side relaxation are the daily menu.

Getting Around:
The day before check-in we'll email you with a full set of instructions: address, directions, Wifi info, door codes, etc.

Set your map to Leland Meadows before you hit the road, because cell service is weak or non-existent along Hwy 108. When you arrive at the cabin at Camp Leland you can park off the road and then pull into our private garage.

The roads and paths around the community are mostly level and very walkable! In winter the snow can get deep, so bring boots or even snow-shoes. Cold Springs, Pinecrest Lake, Strawberry, Beardsley Lake, the Clark Fork of the Stanislaus River, Dodge Ridge and Kennedy Meadows are all a short drive away. In winter you're just a few miles from the Hwy 108 SnoPark, which is your gateway to snowmobiling, snowshoeing and Nordic skiing deep into the Nation Forest.

November thru April, 4wd with snow tires is a necessity - and carry chains too! The weather can change quickly and the road conditions are unpredictable.

Other Things to Note:
The Leland Meadows neighborhood is a private and special community with a mix of cabins, townhomes and Home Owners Association facilities. The community *does not* have trash or refuse service. Guests and owners in the community operate on a Leave No Trace principle, and we ask the same of our guests. Trash and recycling need to be taken home with you - it's not our favorite thing, but it is the thing that works best every time.

This is as close as you get to a wilderness lodge without riding in on horses or flying in via bush-plane! Stanislaus National Forest surrounds the Leland Meadows community and that is what we love about it! The air is a little thinner than normal so lazy days are just as rewarding as chasing mountain adventure.

FAQs:
Can we fish in the Leland Meadows lake? The small community lake is perfect for paddleboarding, relaxing beachside, or a refreshing swim. Fishing is discouraged though. There are truly world class fishing options nearby though, lakes, creeks, streams, rivers and reservoirs abound.

Interaction with Guests:
As hosts we believe in setting a cabin and our guests up for success from the start and then allowing you to enjoy your visit independently. Let us know if there are any details or suggestions you're looking for to make your trip extra-awesome. Our communication will be light and focused on the things you need to know.

My husband and I booked a stay in May for his birthday and brought our beagle with us. First impressions: cabin was very clean. There was also an abundance of clean, cozy blankets to use and various items to make our pup feel welcome too. We enjoyed a walk around the reservoir every morning and evening in addition to the meadow view from the porch. The area: Pinecrest Lake is about 20 min away. We enjoyed exploring the area. The lake is breathtaking. There’s also a really neat little community library worth checking out at the nearby Pinecrest Lake Resort. If you have the time, I also recommend taking a drive to Donnell Vista for one of the best views of the region. Surprises: My husband and I learned how to use the gas oven with the help of Google :) We also didn’t expect the whole town and surrounding area to be closed M-Th. Thankfully we were able to order a few meals from Mia’s. Not only was their food delicious, but the staff were very kind. Lastly, the heater in the cabin can be a bit noisy but there are other ways to stay warm and comfortable during your stay if you don’t want it to run while sleeping. We hope to return in September or October. We enjoyed our stay very much!

So many PRO's-Absolutely loved this little cabin. So perfect for me and my fur baby. Has everything you need and then some. Spotlessly clean. comfy bed. Lovely, lovely property, near a little lake which supplies kayaks, SUP, life jackets, floaties, Volleyball courts, what may be Paddle board courts, horseshoes. There is also a seasonal creek across the street and also runs behind the property. 1 Con- seating outside could use some padding for us old people, couch in the cabin is plushy, but not so comfortable if you're on the taller side. I'd visit again for sure.

Great place. Comfortable, sensibly and tastefully set up, well appointed, well cared for, pretty much everything you might need in kitchen, tho smallish. We were there in winter--road and driveway were promptly plowed, and big garage made life much easier. Convenient to all sorts of natural attractions. The house itself is located in a pleasant little neighborhood, so if you're envisioning a remote backcountry or woods cabin, it's not quite that. But still a nice location, and we were able to enjoy sitting in sun on the deck on Feb. mornings, looking out at the snow. Clear communication by host, with generally prompt responses.

While everything about the cabin and host was great. Im a side sleeper so the bed was a little hard for me. But it wasnt uncomfortable. The peak fire started the day after i arrived, the hosts communicated with me and there was no threat of it coming over the hill. The helicopters were using the pond to get water for the fire but that was the only noise that i ever heard. Overall it was a great experience and would rent it again for winter snow fun.

The cabin was great! The kitchen is well-stocked for cooking. Basics were all cleaned and ready for use. The garage was very spacious. The neighborhood is very quiet. The location provided ample access to numerous hiking areas and trails within up to an hours' drive with beautiful views, waterfalls, mountain tops, and a variety of terrain. Would definitely recommend!

The place is very cute and had everything we needed. It’s very close to the rec center where you can go snow tubing. Not far from Pinecrest Lake also.
