This is our second time coming here and we will definitely be back. The cabin was nice, clean on arrival and nicely stocked. The only thing that we had to buy was shampoo and body wash so bring your own or stop at a dollar store to grab some! Other than that, everything was there. The cabin is right on the beach and has grills, a fire pit, kayaks, firewood, and everything else for a perfect, serene holiday. We really enjoyed our stay!
Nice beach getaway on Lake Huron. An old motel converted into rental units. Quaint and nostalgic, though lighting could be improved. Quiet and beautiful view. Close to many attractions and restaurants. Swimming good. Generally clean and well kept; some floors slope noticeably. We will likely return.
The place and location great. All pro.ised available. Cotton sheets and towels! However No wi fi. No tv. Problem, I live under detroit metro airport so came here for quite and gemtle waves. Didnt get quiet for one day. There was a generator running for construction of utilities. Constant beeping of constr equipment. Muddy driveway. Blocked driveway. My under carriage a clumped mudy mess. Wanted to inquirebut hD to drive to town to get a note to vrbo host.
The view and beach were absolutely gorgeous, but the cabin was very filthy. Upon arrival the bedspreads were damp and full of sand. The sheets were not clean; the owner did respond right away with new linens. Cobwebs were in many corners with dust and hair balls about the cabin, sand on furniture and black dog hair on kitchen table. Safety concern about falling through the floor in front entrance to the cabin, the owner was aware and was going to repair at end of season. No smoke alarms were present. An extension cord was connected on the backside of the cabin, ran along the ground to another cabin; not sure the reason.
View & proximity to beach, use of kayaks & fire pit=AWESOME. All guests were friendly & respectful of noise levels late at night/early in morning. We got a fireworks display on the 4th by a neighboring resort and didn't even have to leave our porch. We canoed on the Au Sable River-I would def recommend doing that. Lake is beautiful and clean.
As noted in other reviews, the place is older and could use some updates. Toilet is finicky, floors slanted in some places-that didn't bother me and it's evident from the pictures it's older-no surprises there. A few things that aren't obvious: even the biggest unit is a TIGHT space. It says it sleeps 6-I was there with my fam (4 total) and that was pushing it on space. We spent most of our time outside but one night we did watch TV due to a bad thunderstorm and there wasn't a place for 4 peeps to sit comfortably. We ended up doubling up in the bedrooms b/c the couch & pull out were uncomfortable, so I would def not try taking more than 3-4 people to stay there. There is no A/C. Mostly that wasn't terrible as there is a constant breeze off the lake but the back bedroom doesn't get that breeze and it gets stuffy when sleeping at night. Suggestions are: a window A/C; a small vacuum b/c it gets sandy VERY quickly and stays that way b/c there is only a broom; umbrellas would be nice on the tables outside for some shade if one so desired to get out of sun for a bit. Overall it was a pleasant stay and lake access can't be beat for price.
The cabin was perfect for my family and I. Right on the beach, comfy beds, clean and cozy. They also have use of kayaks!! We will come back next summer!
The homeowners were always at arms reach... the property was clean and we couldn't ask for BETTER! Tim and Nancy were beyond incredible! We will definitely be back!
The beds are hard as a piece of plywood. Itâs hard to sit on a toilet that is up against a wall. Nails sticking up out of the decking and inside the cabin. Doesnât help when you have to move right away due to being on the cabin due to management. We left a day early due to this.
Gorgeous location! Right on the lake and close to Oscoda. We also went to Tawas Point Lighthouse and Lumbermanâs Monument, both about 20 minutes away. We appreciated being able to travel with our dog. We loved using the kayaks and when I texted a question, the hosts responded promptly. There were small ants in the kitchenette area which was annoying. The toilet also seemed unsteady and like the flooring underneath may have issues. Otherwise a lovely little getaway.
This place was fantastic! Very clean and stocked with everything you needed. Wi-fi, clean towels, kitchen with all the needed gadgets, and grills at each unit. When the weather allowed all guests joined around the firepit and we met some really nice people.
In a great location, close to Huron National Forest and two towns with shopping and sights to see. It was wonderful to be steps away from the water!
Tim and Nancy were incredibly accommodating and helpful. The perfect hosts.
We also had our two dogs with us, and it is a true dog-friendly vacation spot, and they absolutely loved the water! The units are filled with clever design touches and the property is well maintained.
We plan on staying here again!
We came up for a long weekend to celebrate our sonâs birthday and had a lovely time. The property has the typical, older lakeside cabin vibe with little quirks (hold the toilet handle down while it flushes) but nothing out of the ordinary. The only downsides were that the owner didnât readily provide check in information in advance which became complicated with the lack of internet and cellular service in the area, the floor in the bathroom slants and moves in spots (toilet and shower), and when someone else runs water showers become unpredictable (hot/cold)âŠbut again older cabinâŠit was clean, the sandy, private beach was nice, and the owners were responsive to any questions we had once we checked inâŠ
Overall itâs a nice get away spot.
I enjoyed how close you are to the beach, there is now hauling around all the beach items along with the kids, it was a few feet from the door of your room. Everything was clean and nice and stocked for everything you would need as far as cookware goes. They gave individual grills and sitting areas along with a shared sitting space. Kayaking is available through the resort at no cost. My family and I had a terrific time and will be using this place again.
My husband and I enjoyed our cottage stay. The kitchen was a little tight but had the basic things we needed - ate out every night. Good value for the money...
This is an older cabin but does have everything you need at a good price. The cabin was cleaned well and was impressed that they stocked it with various items to use such as charcoal and lighting fluid. Kitchen was fully stocked and even bathroom was stocked with sunblock, burn gel bug spray and first aid. A grill was on each patio to use. The housekeeper advised me it was being renovated so should be even better. The beach has a spectacular view and you have plenty of chairs to watch every day. Neighbors are right next to you so if you want complete privacy this might not be it. The kitchen was small so handicapped or overweight might have issues. They keep lumber also so you can create a bonfire every night. There are some older kayaks and lifejackets for all cabins to share but we didnât use these. Be aware you will need bug spray as the flies are biting flies. Overall a pretty nice vacation.
The resort is a diamond in the rough. We found out that the owners just purchased the place in February. It's all about location. Tim and Nancy are very friendly.
This was one of the nicest pet friendly resorts Iâve ever been to, and being on the water was awesome. The views are gorgeous. The property comes with shared use of kayaks, which was a lot of fun. My dogs enjoyed the beach just as much as my kids. We stayed in #6. It was clean and decorated cute! Watching the many butterflies gathered outside the kitchen window was pretty cool too.
Beautiful location. Could hear the waves at night, put me right to sleep. Beach is beautiful and comes right up to cabin deck. A bit rustic because of age, but that is expected and quaint, as it should be. Kayaks and firepit with wood available.. Owners quick to respond to questions. Perfectly situated between Tawas and Oscoda.. They allow pets which was an added bonus. They only thing I would recommend for in the future is putting a small fenced in area in backyard for a dog run. Other than that, I already put in for vacation this time next year and will be booking at this location!
