This 9-bedroom, 6.5-bath house at Solara Resort holds 24 people across 4,373 square feet, which in practice means nine separate doors to close at night instead of two families splitting into two rentals. Three of the bedrooms were built for the children: a Star Wars bunk lit blue above and red below, a Frozen ice castle with a slide coming down from the upper bunk, and a pirate cabin with brass portholes and a treasure map. The argument over who sleeps where tends to settle itself in the first ten minutes. The garage was converted into a Mario Bros game room, and that is where the afternoon goes when Orlando gets too hot for a fourth park in a row. Out back, the screened pool with its attached hot tub looks over open lawn rather than the neighbor's wall, and the outdoor kitchen and bar counter handle the evening when nobody wants to get in the car again. Upstairs there is a second living room with a poker table and a wet bar, which is what a late arrival from the airport turns into instead of everyone going straight to bed.

Solara Resort is built around a clubhouse with a FlowRider surf simulator (additional fee), a zero-entry pool with water slides, a lazy river and a splash pad for the smallest ones. There is a restaurant, a cafeteria, an ice cream parlor and a bar by the pool, plus a fitness center, a game room, a tennis court, basketball and volleyball courts and a full-size soccer field, all inside the gated community.

Solara Resort is a gated community in Kissimmee, 12 to 18 minutes by car from Walt Disney World. Universal Orlando is 25 to 35 minutes, Orlando International Airport (MCO) 30 to 35 minutes, and the nearest Walmart 8 to 12 minutes for groceries. Vineland Premium Outlets are 18 to 25 minutes away. Inside the gate it is a family neighborhood of vacation homes, with sidewalks, sports courts and the clubhouse as the meeting point, which is why children move around on their own here.
The house sits inside Solara Resort, with quick access to the roads that connect Kissimmee to the Disney area, Universal and the airport. Free on-site parking is available in the paved driveway. A rental car is the practical choice for a group this size, though rideshare services operate throughout the region, and inside the resort most people walk or use a golf cart to reach the clubhouse.
