This unit has potential to be amazing… but was so dirty and poorly maintained it was a disappointment. It could really use some TLC and a better cleaning staff.
Positives of our stay:
- Location is amazing – close to restaurants, stores, entertainment, beach
- Balcony view is as advertised – amazing view!
- The Phoenix I was very nice – large pool, lots of charcoal grills, short boardwalk to beach
- Accurate listing from features standpoint – 2bd, 2ba, pull out couch, W/D, stocked kitchen, etc.
What was wrong with our stay:
- Guest bed was full of sand upon arrival
- Dishwasher full of last guest’s dishes
- Master shower: moldy shower liner, ceiling falling apart, hot water handle falling off and difficult to turn on or off, used towels from previous guest on back of the door
- Guest bath: moldy shower liner, used towels from previous guest on back of the door
- Urine stain on the couch mattress pad
- Back sliding door (living room) made a loud whistling noise (think: train) when it stormed. Scared the daylights out of my kids.
- In-unit telephone (with Vacasa direct line) was not connected to use
- Cracked/chipped tiles, stains on walls and floors.
- Sliding closet doors are falling off their tracks in master bedroom and in dining area.
- We were not provided with toilet paper, paper towels, towels, or cleaning products until a few hours after our check in time. We had already purchased everything locally by time Vacasa came by to deliver our items. No communication on the delay of these items.
- Called Vacasa immediately upon arrival (re: back door, bulbs, towels, cleaning) and was on hold for 2hrs before hanging up. We were unable to contact Vacasa during our trip to get assistance.
Some nice to knows or haves:
- The W/D are a nice feature but are VERY small – only 3 pool towels fit in the washer at once. As stated in the property listing, you can only use the washer OR the dryer – food for thought while packing.
- There were ZERO cleaning supplies provided outside dishwasher tablets, liquid dish soap, and laundry soap. No disinfectants/products, no vacuum, nothing. Kind of gross if you think about it.
- Backup lightbulbs would be nice. We had one that was out when we arrived.
- Since this property is owned/managed by Vacasa, the staff and the Phoenix can’t do anything to help you – they are very friendly, but that’s about all they can do for you.
Overall, I would absolutely stay in the Phoenix again, but not in a Vacasa managed unit.
