We had a great relaxing stay here. It’s not a new house so it has a lived-in vibe. But everything was fine. Great deck, everything was clean. Loved having a pool table. Had to master the keypad lock but that was minor. Community lake access down the road is great. Lots of chipmunks and deer in the yard that interested our dogs. Would definitely go back.

This a great location: first, the area is gorgeous and has just about any outdoor activity you might want, from lake life to sightseeing to winter sports. The scenery is lovely, and it's between two towns that offer what you need for a stay, whether it's groceries, liquor store, pharmacy, or hardware for emergencies. Got a dog who needs exercise? There's a public dog park in both towns. We enjoyed the wildlife, whether it was the herd of deer or visits from wild turkeys; even a nighttime visit from a hungry bear who snacked on the trash. We stayed snugly out of reach, of course. The place is comfy and well-appointed, including a fun pool table on the lowest level and a kitchen with most of what's needed to make a meal. There's a TV in almost every room, pretty good WiFi, and even a radio. The bed, at least the one we tried, was comfortable. There's enough space that the two of us weren't tripping over each other. That's always a plus. There were, of course, some pitfalls: one is that the place needs a good deep cleaning, the second is that some furnishings and hardware are showing their age (plus abuse by other renters?) and might need replacing or repair. We were also surprised to find that everything we brought in the front door had to be toted up one or two flights of steep, narrow stairs... and we travel with a lot, since we cook instead of eating out all the time.We enjoyed our stay. We visited a state parks and made it to Shenandoah NP in VA. We rate this a nine.
