Amazing oceanfront North Myrtle Beach

Carothers Castle is a unique house that sits directly on the shore of the Atlantic Ocean making it the perfect destination for a fun and sun-filled beach retreat. It has a direct and private access to the beach. It is the perfect getaway for family and friends, with its six spacious bedrooms, five full bathrooms, one half bathroom, fully equipped kitchen, washer and dryer.

This fabulous home provides a lovely oceanfront covered porch where you can sit and enjoy the views. You can also go swimming in the private pool or relax in the hot tub.

There are many activities to do in the area besides relaxing on the beach. You may want to enjoy on championship golf courses, vintage arcades, live entertainement, music, dancing, and plenty of shopping opportunities. Your taste buds will go crazy over the many dining venues available in Myrtle Beach.

This was a lovely home for our family of 8. The hosts were available when we had minor needs. The view was wonderful. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes. The home was clean. There are three bedrooms on the main floor and 3 more upstairs. Access to the beach was wonderful. Be advised the to enter the home you must go up a flight of stairs. Overall, well equipped. Thank you for a great stay.

Perfect fall break with family & friends! Beach view from the back deck is incredible for watching the waves or sunrise/sunset. The landscaping and dune layout makes it feel secluded with no other people or houses in sight, yet close enough to so many convenient places or eat, drink, shop, or play! We loved the heated pool & spa with private direct beach access. House is a little dated, but very welcoming with lots of charm making you feel like you’re just using a friends house for a getaway.

Our family has rented this property 2 years in a row and the size, location and layout is perfect for us. Hot-tub has a heater but it doesnt work and pool for us was good as sunny the whole week, but last year, you either have pool heater or hot tub heated, not both. However, interior is worn and obviously no upgrades being done. My husband fixed a counter stool that was broken last year, just so we could use it this year since not fixed. Living room furniture needs a good steaming, the ottoman is actually filthy and should be removed if not steamed. (See picture attached) Mattresses also in some rooms are so soft with dip i middle, which was on several other reviews, and i arrived with a bad back that did not improve with rest. Bathroom vanities and toilets are very low also. Several deck boards are uneven and trip hazard and deck rails are missing or loose, so if children are in the party, i would bring chicken wire and watch the kids. Despite this, again for us it was amazing to be together, right on the beach, plenty of parking, house fairly well stocked - though we bring our own accessories, bar lights, table cloths, mats, cooking stuff that we know we will need. Grill gas was present, and grill clean, so that was a bonus. We had a great time and still would rent again, as you pick your must have’s and for us its location and size, but the price is for the location, size of the property and pool/beach access.

Our whole family enjoyed our week at this beach-side house very much. It was clean and beautifully decorated. The pool and easy access to the beach were wonderful. Beach umbrellas and other equipment were provided. One thing that some might need to know is that most of the beds are very soft. Some in our party liked it, some didn't really notice, but for a few of us the very soft beds did not work well.

Upon arrival all trash cans were full and at the street for two days. Dishwasher was full, oven mitts were dirty in the drawer. The ice machine in refrigerator didn’t work because message on refrigerator read 99 days overdue. AC return filter was in desperate need of replacement. Messaged property manager to get everything taken care of. Finally someone came at 9:10pm to take care of these issues. This house is in need of repairs, stains on rugs, cracked tile, holes on walls, scuff marks throughout the house on walls. If others would have left honest reviews we would not have selected this house. We have rented plenty of VRBO’s in the past and never had issues like this.

Great spot! Will be returning next year.

Great location! Fantastic resources for entire, large group. We intend to book again for next year. I’m sure the home sees a lot of guests and traffic. As a result, could use some TLC (maybe some paint updates in areas, alignment/inventory of remotes to TVs, blender tops to blenders). Overall, very happy and satisfied with our stay.

Family Trip Review

The exterior (deck, pool, hot tub, deck to the beach) are exactly what you want in a beach house. Beautiful & easy access to the beach! The house itself had a nice layout with tons of rooms & bathrooms for everyone to have their own space. We enjoyed family dinners at the large table too! The host was exceptional at quickly responding to questions. Feedback for improvement: the bed mattresses were really soft, everyone mentioned it at some point during the week. The furniture could use some upgrades, but that didn’t negatively impact our stay.

Wonderful

The location was amazing. The house was beautiful! Loved having our own private pool and hot tub and also a private entrance to the beach with 3 showers outside for sand. The bedrooms were spacious and the open floor plan of the kitchen, dining room , and living room were perfect for our family. Had a great time with the paddle board set as well and the games in the dining room! Would definitely stay there again. Worth every penny! Host was very gracious and checkin was super easy. Highly recommend for everything you need for R&R.

Delightful Getaway

This beach house was perfect for our group of 6 adults and an 18 month old. What we liked most was the easy and private beach access and closeness to everything we wanted to do. The house was roomy enough for all of us and comfortable.

Perfect location and amenities

My family meets in Myrtle Beach every year in September, usually in the Cherry Grove area. This year we decided to book somewhere directly on the beach with a heated pool and were in North Myrtle, which we really enjoyed the location. The properly did not disappoint. We survived hurricane Helene at the house and fortunately did not lose power. Kitchen was well stocked with utensils and dishes, amenities were in working order and if we had questions, owner was extremely attentive. We had nieces and nephews drive in for a few days, but my husband and I, our daughter and husband, his 3 sisters and their grown children and husbands had a fab time. Games, family time, cooking together, bingo on FaceTime with grandma in Wisconsin, just couldn’t be beat. We will be booking for next year.

Great size and location for our 4 generation gathering . A/C worked great . Newer kitchen appliances . Pool and spa newer and awesome . Plenty of towels . Fridge in storage space good . Lots beach chairs most fair condition . Need trash bags laundry and dishwasher pods x 1 for each day of stay . And full dish soap . King mattresses good / rest need replace - foam topper does not mitigate crummy mattress . King sheets ok. Rest polyester . Delay comms with owner. Needs deep clean / ceiling fans . Unit owned by large company in many states - need local person for onsite maintenance/ upkeep . 3 toilets running , one commode wobbly , washer dryer room damp musty smell/ Safety alert - only 1 of 4 pool gates close / lock automatically . Home def not updated. Dryer vent no cover /? Birds rodents nest .

A Disappointment

We stayed here 11 years ago. The house is neglected. Found a filthy dishwasher which I cleaned. Only 2 dish towels; bought more. Inferior pans & cooking utensils, dull knives. Outdoor showers w/standing water don't drain. Wet spot on upstairs bedroom carpet. Dirty furniture & rugs. Broken drawers in dresser, kitchen cabinets & balcony need fresh coat of paint. Contacted mgmt who fixed 2 toilets, kitchen faucet & microwave so it's in better shape now. Closets are messy, one has a mattress making it unusable. Bring own sheets, extra bath towels, place mats. Positives: good water pressure in master shower, pool, beach toys, chairs, rafts, beach towels, the view, lighting, spaciousness, games in cabinets (had to clean one which was left in a mess), beach access, hose on beach walkway, dishes & glassware.

Great location, awesome amenities, could use some upgrades

The location, private dock to the beach, pool and hot tub were all amazing. The view from inside the house is also incredible. The kitchen is pretty outdated and the living room furniture is pretty old. My biggest complaint is the sheets on the bed were just awful. The cheapest sheets you can buy on Amazon would be 10 times more comfortable than the sheets on the bed. Could use some extra blankets in the house as well.

The house was awesome. We had a blast and the owners were super easy to work with. We were planning to golf ahead of 5pm check in; however, our round was cancelled due to rain and the owners helped us out by allowing us an early check in. Great pool area and located right on the beach. Would definitely book this property again.

Loved staying here

Location was perfect. Pool was amazing. Beach was beautiful. House was comfortable. There were plenty of beach chairs but the lightweight ones were dirty/moldy probably from being put away wet and sandy so I would recommend bringing your own beach chairs or just using a beach towel. The umbrellas were in good condition as was everything else. The place had everything we needed. We had a wonderful stay and definitely recommend this place. We plan to come back next year.

MANY THINGS WRONG

We were enjoying our stay until the AC went out on Monday evening. The host sent the maintenance man the next morning but he knew little about AC. The AC tech didn't show up until Thursday. In the mean time we had upstairs temps of 81 degrees and downstairs temps of 77 degrees. We had a few roaches and many ants. The ice maker makes very little ice. Sofa and love seat were very uncomfortable. One of the beds sagged badly. The pull out sofa was not usable. The jets in the hot tub had very low volume.
