6/10 Satisfaisant

The location of this property was wonderful, right across the street from the beach. However, my family and I had some issues with the place itself relative to the cost and we felt certain things should have been disclosed in the description of the property on VRBO.For starters, this is a 100-year-old lobster cabin, and while the historic aspect of the structure is appreciated, some upgrades for the sake of guest comfort are sorely needed. For example, we experienced a heat wave during our stay and the two window units in the main bedrooms just didn't cool the house enough to be comfortable. One portable AC caused a power outage and the house was sweltering. I know heat waves are inevitable during the summer, but climate control should be updated. The property is advertised to sleep eight people and we found this to be misleading. One room, which was a small bunk type room off a bedroom, was sweltering to the point of feeling like a sauna and we didn't use it at all. It had no outlets for a fan and the bunk bed was so close to the ceiling that if a person sat up, they would hit their head. Shoving three beds into a tiny side room with no AC or circulation seemed a stretch - the room would be better served with one twin bed and a dresser to put clothes. It should be noted that with the exception of one bedroom, the house has no insulation, which is why when it got hot, it was like an attic. For 900 dollars a day, we expected a higher level of comfort.
