The location is very good. The room/floor is very outdated. Of note your room will not have its own bath/shower. There is communal bath/shower which is highly odd for a hotel in this day and age

This was the perfect location for a trip to Newport. The place was clean and cozy. The shared bathroom was also clean.Tara was fantastic & got back to us in an hour. Would definitely recommend!

No air conditioning! Overnight parking across the street is $90! No ice! Communal bathrooms! AND a very strange and annoying humming sound every 10 minutes or so that lasted about seven seconds I even heard in the communal bathroom, which was on opposite walls, but in our bedroom, it was directly on our headboard wall, which made it very hard to sleep. Good luck y'all! Completely overpriced!!! And I travel a lot, just saying! I think it has been the worst day I've had especially in a place like Newport

Unbeatable location. Room with bare bones necessities to spend the night. Shared bathroom and shower with several other rooms but can’t beat the price if you’re looking for a decent bed in central Newport.

Crows Nest was right in Bohens wharf which made it very walkable and easy to get around. Upon arrival, we had some miscommunication with keys/ room assignments. However, that was fix very fast and the staff was very pleasant and helpful! Over all this is a very nice place to stay for a short trip in Newport (2-3 nights).

Best location!

This is a great little place to stay in Newport! The room was adequate and comfortable and the bathroom down the hall was decent. Wish there were blackout blinds/curtains in the room as the wharf lights made it very bright at night. The best thing about this property is the location and the kindness of Tara the manager. We would definitely stay here again!

Shhh…Don’t tell anyone

It’s the best value in Newport. Okay, there’s no TV, no refrigerator & parking can be problematic. (Mary St lot is $30 overnight) So did you go to Newport to sit in your room? Walk out your door & be in the center of EVERYTHING! Can’t wait to return.

Pros: clean, great location Cons: description of property! I had no idea there was a shared bathroom, no TV, and no window coverings. The AC barely turned on. I messaged the hotel manager who never responded. There is apparently no one on staff on the weekends. There is no Lobby. So no clean towels or new soap if needed. There is a dump used regularly on ground level so common areas smell like garbage. Overnight parking (summer season) cost me $95/night. Other local hotels have included parking. As well as private bathrooms, staffed lobby, and working AC. Do NOT recommend and will not stay here again. Also based on previous reviews instead of empathy and learning the owner will respond defensively and argumentatively. Another red flag!!!!

I did not expect luxury, but the lack of a mirror in the room, only a single towel per person (no washcloth) and no TV - but the bathrooms - I guess I did not understand that this was a hostel.....

Nice stay in a great location.

The crows nest in in a 5 star location and ight in the heart of downtown Newport. You could not ask for a better location. The room was clean and comfortable, but I was unaware of the shared bathroom facilities. I was a solo traveler so it wasn’t a big deal to me but I would have planned to bring my own shampoo (none provided) for the showers. They were clean but dated. The communication with the manager was prompt and efficient. Overall a nice stay and would stay again if I was traveling solo.

Building smell could be fresher. Smelt like fish or dead rodent in hallways entryway bathroom and room. Smoke detector going off at 6AM and was not replaced during stay. Curtains on windows should be heavier to block out light or add blinds in addition.

As long as you are aware of the type of property it is, it’s great! I am not too far removed from college, so sharing a hall bathroom was no problem for me. I was able to figure out parking pretty easily. It was a lovely place to stay, and quite literally in the center of all the downtown action! I had an issue with temperature control, but the admin were very quick to respond and helped me find a solution. Make sure you figure out a parking plan, and bring ear plugs or white noise, you may have a next door neighbor with sleep apnea not yet on a cpap, and the walls are somewhat thin (as expected in an early 20th century building). Overall, great place to stay if you’re willing to live boarding-house style
