➞ Metro connections: South Shields Interchange (bus and Metro) is nearby. Metro trains to Newcastle run every 10–12 minutes, taking around 26–28 minutes to reach the city centre.   

➞ Frequent buses: Regular services link South Shields with Sunderland, Gateshead, Jarrow and beyond via the local bus network. 

➞ Ferries available: Cross the Tyne via the scenic Shields Ferry between South and North Shields—an enjoyable 7-minute ride.
