« Fantastic location. Ideal for what we needed but also really rural-feeling and peaceful. We found it quiet and charming. We enjoyed wandering in amongst the old orchard and down through the copse, across the scrubland that forms part of the floodplain of the Tyne. It was good to know there are badgers around although we weren’t lucky enough to see anyway. The dawn chorus was impressive. Very pleasant indeed. Definitely will book again if we’re back in the area. »

« I was pleasantly surprised at the high quality and spaciousness of my room (10).
Staff were friendly and professional; the assistant at breakfast was first rate in supporting a substantial number of guests. And the Craster kippers were excellent. The one thing missing at breakfast was a bowl of fresh fruit.
Dinner was well prepared and presented.
All in all a very good experience at the Duke of W. »

« First and foremost the property was clean, functional and offered value for money. The staff were friendly and helpful, although our experience of room service was let down by dirty cups being left.
We found the hotel lacked character, everything about it was functional and not interesting. This extended to the breakfast, our experience of which was behind not eating supper there. This is not a criticism of the hotel, it is my view.
Based on reviews I expected a little more than we got....

« J’étais déjà venu il y a quelques années dans cette hôtel, et le niveau est excellent, j’apprécie beaucoup cette chaîne, dans des lieux originaux et de très bon goût.
Le petit bémol, au restaurant, j’avais pris une salade avec du kale, mais il n’y en avait pas, malgré les affirmations du cuisinier après ma remarque… »
