For an irresistible couple’s escape or solo adventure, this unique getaway is a larger-than-average shepherd’s hut surrounded by enchanting Nottinghamshire countryside and has plenty of things to do nearby. In the village of Farnsfield, around half a mile away, there is a bakery, butchers, several lovely cafes serving breakfast and a choice of friendly pubs. Follow the village’s Heritage Walks or cycle on the Southwell Trail to Bilsthorpe and the Minister town of Southwell. Nearby experience clay shooting at Cockett Farm Shooting Ground and at Lockwell Hill Activity Centre (1.5 miles) there is quad biking, 4 x 4 off-roading and archery. At Sherwood Pines (6 miles away) you can follow mountain bike trails and try out a zip wire. Southwell is 4.5 miles away and you can enjoy visiting the Minster, the Races, shops and eateries. Newark and Nottingham are within 14 miles and The Major Oak at Edwinstowe, Sherwood Forest is just 8 miles away.
The timber-clad hut sits peacefully in the landscape, painted a soft willow colour and with a traditional curved, corrugated metal roof. Take the four steps up and through the double doors into the open-plan living space, where you’re welcomed by pretty colours, a wooden floor and accents of timber, creating a natural, restful atmosphere. High-quality furnishings and a thoughtful, stylist design make this a truly appealing space in which to relax and unwind. To the left is a king-size bed with storage below, a wardrobe space and a Smart TV which can be enjoyed in the evening. To the right is a cleverly designed corner kitchen which includes a two ring hob, microwave, toaster and an air fryer ready for you to whip up tasty snacks and simple meals. Enjoy them at the two-person table, perhaps open the doors to connect inside and out and listen to birdsong as you dine. The en-suite shower room, again larger than most includes beautiful fittings and a proper, flushing WC with a classic, high level cistern.
The large, grassy area outside boasts lovely rural views and is a wonderful place in which to sit and relish the fresh air and sunshine, perhaps while partaking in a sundowner or an alfresco meal. Making it easy to get out and explore (buses are also easily available at the Farm Gate) and you’ll have parking for two cars on site.
