Monte Rio refuge 1CH au-dessus de la Russian River — spa, chiens OK

Summary:

The Russian River glimmers through the trees below your hot tub at this dog-friendly Monte Rio hideaway. A queen bedroom plus a snug lower-level double sleep 4, with a gas fireplace inside and a fire-pit table on the stone patio. Monte Rio's river beach is minutes down the hill; Guerneville's restaurants are 5 minutes east.

The Space:

Spend mornings on the deck as mist lifts off the Russian River, afternoons floating the river or visiting Korbel and Joseph Jewell tasting rooms, and evenings around the fire pit with the day's bottles.

A leather sofa pulls in beside the gas fireplace as sliding glass doors open to your private deck. A small desk corner is set up for a stretch of remote work; track lighting and bamboo blinds keep the room warm. Honey-toned cabinets and a French door fridge open the kitchen straight onto the dining area. The downstairs double room sits in a vaulted nook with built-in shelving — a quiet retreat for kids or a second couple.

Down the hill, Monte Rio's community beach offers shallow swimming and seasonal kayak rentals, and Patterson Point Preserve's forest trails start a tenth of a mile away. Guerneville's restaurants and shops are five minutes east; Jenner, where the river meets the Pacific, is fifteen minutes west.

Back at the lodge, the hot tub takes the evening shift: soak under the trees as the river goes dark, then move to the fire-pit table for one more glass. Note that stairs connect parking, entry, and outdoor areas on this hillside property — pack accordingly.

OUTDOOR LIVING

Your stone patio hosts a hot tub alongside a fire pit table for evenings under the stars. The wooden deck features a gas grill with propane and cushioned seating. From this hillside perch, the Russian River winds through the forested valley below.

The main bedroom offers a queen bed beneath exposed ceiling beams with orange accent chairs. Downstairs, a double/full bed sits in a vaulted nook with built-in shelving. Total capacity: 4 guests.

Getting Around:

Monte Rio is about 90 minutes from San Francisco via 101 and River Road — a winding drive through redwoods and river country. The cottage provides parking for two vehicles in the driveway. A car makes the Russian River Valley easy to explore, from redwood trails to riverside wineries. Cell service gets patchy in the redwoods, so downloading offline maps before you arrive is worth it.

Other Things to Note:

• The cottage stays naturally cool thanks to the redwood canopy and river breezes — like most Russian River properties, there's no air conditioning, though summer days can reach the 80s-90s.

• We provide high-speed internet (236 Mbps) perfect for streaming or remote work, though cell service can be spotty in the redwoods.

• Your dogs are welcome here!

• The property accommodates up to 2 dogs (80 lbs max each).

• They'll love exploring the forested surroundings and nearby trails.

• Please note you'll climb stairs from the parking area to reach the front door — the cottage is perched on the hillside for those spectacular views.

• The primary renter must be 21 or older.

• Take advantage of the washer and dryer for longer stays.

• For the best river experience, bring water shoes for rocky areas and binoculars for wildlife watching.

• The hot tub is serviced weekly and ready for star gazing.
