Footsteps to Lake & Tons of Restaurants! Charming!
Summary: NEW! Kick back and relax in this stylish space! This gorgeous 2nd floor apartment resides inside a quiet 5 unit building and features stunning turn of the century architectural details. Two spacious sitting areas are wrapped in sunlight from loads of windows and charm oozes from the incredible woodwork, pristine hardwood floors, and incredible modern touches. Located in the highly desirable Linden Hills neighborhood of Minneapolis - just footsteps from Lake Harriet & restaurants.
The Space: NEWLY AVAILABLE HOME! Check out our other reviews as a SuperHost & you will not be disappointed. As you enter the 5 unit building, you will walk up one and a half flights of stairs to your gorgeous top floor condo. This is perhaps the nicest unit in the building since it has sunlight coming in on three sides including southern light that streams into the living room and western sunsets that fill the sitting room, dining room, kitchen, and both bedrooms.
When you enter the unit, it features a peaceful sitting room or reading space - complete with a full size desk for when you need to buckle down and work. There is fiber optic internet and an extremely strong Wi-Fi signal throughout the condo. The living room features a very large sectional couch and comfy chair along with large TV that features live television from Hulu as well as movies and shows from Netflix, Prime, and Disney+. The dining room features seating for four adults and there is also additional breakfast bar seating in the kitchen. There is a very large coat and storage closet for your luggage located directly next to the dining room. The kitchen is extremely well appointed and features all the utensils, plates, and cookware you could need including a toaster, blender, and mixing bowls. There is also a wonderful coffee, tea, and wine bar that features a nice selection of fresh coffee beans and teas to use in either the drip coffee maker, the tea kettle, or the French Press.
Down the hallway there you will first encounter a bedroom that features a bunk bed that has two large queen beds. Because they are queen beds, this bedroom could sleep up to four people. Continuing down the hallway there is a primary bedroom that features loads of sunlight, a very large closet, and a super comfortable king size bed. There is also a well appointed full bathroom with plenty of extra towels, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. There is also a washer/dryer that is just outside the hallway which is shared with the unit across the hall. It is very rare for this washer/dryer to be in use by someone else in the building, but in the off chance that it is, there is another washer/dryer just one flight below the unit that can also be used during your stay.
Finally, the backyard is also available for guests to use during their stay. There is a large yard for playing catch or for relaxing in a lawn chair on when the weather is nice. It is a very peaceful space.
The Neighborhood: Named for the abundance of linden trees and the area's gentle hills, and widely known as Minneapolis's nicest neighborhood, the Linden Hills community is also anchored by two of the region's most beautiful lakes: Lake Harriet and Bde Maka Ska. Our home is located just a few blocks walk away from Lake Harriet and the numerous biking and walking trails around Minneapolis's Grand Rounds Scenic Bikeway. Known today as the ideal in urban living with a small town charm, there are numerous high-end restaurants and shops within walking distance or a short drive. Bus transit is located just a half a block away too.
Nearly 3 miles of pedestrian and bike trails circle the perimeter of nearby Lake Harriet and pass some of the city’s most stunning homes. No matter where you’re at on the lake, it’s hard to miss the castle-like Band Shell, complete with turrets. Here, you’ll find a full lineup of free concerts and movies through the summer, plus sunrise yoga facing the lake every morning from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
During warmer weather, lounge on three beaches, get active on the soccer and softball fields or sand volleyball court, and rent bikes—in addition to canoes, kayaks and paddle boats—through Wheel Fun Rentals.
As the chill sets in and the lake freezes over, the area continues to draw outdoor enthusiasts even on the coldest days. You may spot people ice fishing, snowshoeing, snowkiting, and skijoring across the frozen surface. Each February, the sky above the lake is festooned with a rainbow of kites both large and small during the annual Lake Harriet Winter Kite Festival.
A stone’s throw from Lake Harriet is another incredible lake: Bde Maka Ska. Along its western shoreline, The Bakken Museum offers a treasure trove of science and technology discoveries. The only Smithsonian-affiliated museum in the state features immersive experiences including Frankenstein’s Laboratory. “Meet” author Mary Shelley and watch Frankenstein’s famous monster come to life.
Decades before the Light Rail came to town, commuters hopped aboard streetcars to get from home to work and back. The Minnesota Streetcar Museum offers rides aboard the beautifully restored trolleys. Hop on the Como-Harriet Streetcar Line for a scenic tour between the two lakes, and enjoy a full calendar of annual events, from Vinternatt holiday rides to the Trick 'r Trolley each Halloween.
On the western edge of the Linden Hills neighborhood at France Avenue and 44th Street, get your wine and cheese fix at the aptly named France 44. This family-run destination has specialized in a worldly selection of wines, beers, spirits, and THC drinks — plus ethically sourced cheeses — for over 60 years. Sign up for a personalized tasting for up to 8 wine and cheese lovers, or dig deeper with one of their enlightening courses focused on a variety of foods and beverages.
Farther south on France, around 50th Street, more character-filled shops—along with numerous restaurants and an indie movie theater—reinforce this area’s must-visit status.
You don’t have to travel far from Lake Harriet to get a taste of the fine eats in Linden Hills. Plenty of options await where Sheridan and Upton Avenues converge at West 43rd Street. For sophisticated takes on American faves, come hungry to Tilia, for a choose-your-own-adventure three-course pix fixe dinner. Naviya’s Thai Brasserie dishes gorgeous vegetable-centric stir-fries and their curries.
South-of-the-border staples get modern makeovers at a pair of fine-dining favorites. If you think you know empanadas, think again as you indulge in one filled with creamed leeks and gorgonzola at Martina. The Argentinian-inspired menu rewards culinary adventure-seekers with cinnamon fried calamari, grilled beef tongue bruschetta, and other one-of-a-kind delicacies. Known as one of American’s best chefs, Daniel del Prado has put Linden Hills on the map with both Martina and his attached brick oven pizza joint Rosalia as well as his nearby sister restaurant Colita. Here he masters the art of modern Mexican flavors, from lamb barbacoa tacos to charred eggplant tostadas with roasted tomato and tamarind. (A bonus for allergy-aware diners: everything from the kitchen is naturally gluten free.) Cool off with a handmade scoop—or two—of signature raspberry chocolate chip ice cream at family-run scoop shop Sebastian Joe's.
You’ll also find a smattering of unique eateries on the neighborhood’s western end near West 44th Street and France Avenue South. Huge portions star at Old Southern BBQ, a palace of protein with to-die-for brisket and pulled pork. Craving fresh pasta? Tosca is a casual Italian eatery with a mouth-watering menu open just for dinner. Need a quick breakfast or a fresh loaf to-go? Turtle Bread Company is your spot. In addition to their masterfully crafted breads, they’re known for their flaky croissants and small-batch muffins and scones, all of which pair beautifully with a bold cup of Joe. Want a little more spice with your breakfast and the best cup of coffee in Linden Hills? Head to Cafe Ceres for Turkish-style coffee and bagels with labneh and za'atar.
Oh and don’t forget other amazing local favorites such as Zumbro Cafe, Harriet Brasserie, Jones Coffee, Wooden Ship Brewing, and Mill Valley Kitchen!
Getting Around: There is ample free parking across the street. The garage is off limits as we are using it for storage.
Located just 1 block east of a primary road (Xerxes Avenue), it is very easy to get to the home from several freeways and multiple major arteries.

Exactly what we wanted
We (Parents and two boys - 15 and 12yo) loved our stay at this Linden Hills apartment. It was in a great location that was walking distance to the lake and to the local restaurants. Chad and the host team were wonderful. Very communicative and accommodating. Highly recommend.

Great Spacious Home in Excellent Location
Excellent central Linden Hills location, easy on-street parking (always found a spot across the street same block), convenient to lakes, Edina, creek, freeways. Lots of walkability as far as outdoors and shopping/restaurants. Unit itself is lovely vintage mixed modern style, well maintained, fully equipped including the kitchen, comfortable, spacious, and sunny. We had a great stay and would definitely book again. Thanks!

Perfect Ambiance and Location
We had a perfect stay in this charming unit. We walked to Cafe Ceres (our favorite from when we lived in this neighborhood) every morning, picked up snacks for a Gophers Tailgate at Turtle Bread, had an easy jaunt to buy clothes from Anthropologie and Evereve when it was colder than expected (as always in MN), ate at our neighborhood favorites - Red Cow, Coalition and Pizzeria Lola - all of the perfect things in this neighborhood. The place was perfectly decorated and clean, the beds and linens were so very comfortable. I've been telling everyone that I wish it was actually my home - I'll be searching for a location just like this to move into eventually. In the meantime, I'll base every future stay in Mpls on whether or not this place is available. I'm so hesitant to even post this review in case I am limiting my own experiences! I promise you - book this place you will not be disappointed. It's the perfect south Minneapolis vibe.
