Venture out the front door for a morning walk, relax by the numerous ponds on the property, and explore the 6 walking paths on your private nature park. Breathtaking stargazing, zen ponds, and bird and wildlife viewing make Mendocino Tranquility Meadows perfect for nature lovers or to get away from it all. An ideal retreat for your vacation, private event, wedding, family gathering, or get together with friends boasting ample outdoor space and immense natural beauty.

Located just 2 miles from the historic town of Mendocino and a wealth of local popular attractions 3 minutes away including Point Cabrillo Lighthouse & Museum, Caspar Beach, and stunning Russian Gulch State Park ocean bluff trails & beach.

As you step inside, you'll be greeted by a fully stocked kitchen, complete with a stove, oven, refrigerator, microwave, kettle, and toaster, allowing you to easily prepare delicious meals. Gather around the dining table and enjoy quality time with your loved ones. Unwind in the comfortable living room, where you can curl up by the fireplace and lose yourself in a good book or family game night. Beautiful wood farmhouse furniture throughout. Full bathroom with tiled shower. All windows look onto trees and nature. 1 full size bed in master bedroom and 2 twin beds in second bedroom. Seaglass is suitable for up to 4 total guests. Cottage is farm chic, quaint and light filled with county rustic feel. Please note, we do not offer a TV. Get ready to relax and unplug!

Mendocino Tranquility Meadows is a historic birder's dream. Originally owned by legendary conservationist Jacques Helfer a renowned author of "99 Birds of the Mendocino Coast" and "The Natural History of Mendocino." A 2 acre pond is at the heart of the property and is home to many bird species including ducks, osprey, warblers, swallows, hawks, and owls. And yet less than 2 miles north of the famous town of Mendocino, you feel like you are worlds away. Numerous beaches, Surfing, kayaking, bird watching, hiking, mountain biking, shopping, wine tasting
.. and world class restaurants all minutes away!

Set off of Highway one, you can hear some highway noise outside the cottages but you cannot see the road or other houses. We have one security camera on the garage facing the driveway (facing away from the house) for everyone's safety. This property is close to amenities including grocery stores, pharmacies, shops, and medical clinics in both Mendocino (2 miles away) and Fort Bragg (7 miles away) yet is like staying in a private park. Nestled in the charming coastal town of Mendocino, this cozy 2-bedroom cottage offers the perfect escape for your next vacation

Seaglass Cottage

We were so excited to stay at this cute cottage.However we were NOT able to stay there for the 2 nights we reserved because we were nit able to get in. We arrived a 8:00pm on April 30th and because we did not have any cell service we did not get instructions on how to enter. There was no emergency number to call, the porch lightswere out and we could not open the lock box. As it grew later we had to find a place to stay for the night. We went back to Mendocino and found as place for the night. In the morning we returned to take pictures and try to locate any way to make contact. Unsuccessful on all counts, we left. A huge waste of money, cleaning deposit ( as no one stayed there) and disappointment !

A Magical Getaway

Our stay at the Seaglass cottage was nothing short of magical! It is perfectly located where you are tucked away in the trees, and yet it's just a short drive into town or to the ocean! We loved the trails near the cottage and sipping our morning coffee with the dew of the day. We would recommend staying here to anyone who wanted a peaceful getaway where you can bathe in the forest, find all the mushrooms, and watch the waves crash.

Beautiful property, thoughtful owners

This property is along a road/driveway that has a few more houses - great for multiple groups that want to be close but not share the same house. There is beautiful hiking directly off the property and it's close to all the things we wanted to do. The owner was also super gracious - a freak storm hit the area and all the power went out (including WiFi) and roads were shut down (rare) - he helped us from afar by texting regular updates and helping us navigate our way home (w/o gps). It was a once in a lifetime storm and could have been scary but the property owner went above and beyond so we felt safe. A strange trip and a testament to the kindness and attentiveness of the owners. We will visit again.

Nicely remodeled cottage, private and comfortable. Had good interaction with the owner when we had a problem with the plug in heaters. Between Mendocino and Ft. Bragg so were able to drive to both. For the next renters, don't forget to bring your own bathing soap and shampoo. I assumed it was supplied as is usually the case, but it was written in the instructions which I did not read carefully.

The cottage was perfect. Spacious living area and well equipped kitchen. The surrounding property was fun to explore with all the trails and ponds. Quiet and serene. I love the beautiful, rugged coastline, tall trees and cool spots to hike. The Mendocino Botanical gardens were incredible.

Perfect cottage stay

The cottage is exactly as photographed and described. Excellent location to all things of Mendocino and Fort Bragg. All necessities (extra blankets, towels, kitchen items, heaters, fans, etc) are provided. I appreciated the restaurant and attraction information. We hiked the property in late afternoon. Be cautious of the many banana slugs on the trail. If we visit this area again, i would surely choose this property.

Beautiful scenic location

What we liked: *The cabin was beautifully clean - probably the cleanest VRBO we have stayed in - big thanks to the housekeeping team. *The setting is one of a kind - you have a pond, meadow and forest to explore and you have them all to yourselves. It's great if you like nature photography. *Great communication from our host - there were power outages across the area two days into our stay and he responded to text messages promptly. Good to know: *We were there in March so we caught the tail end of the cold, wet weather. The stove heats the central lounge well, but the bedrooms got really cold at night, especially the twin. (There were space heaters but we preferred not to run them while we were sleeping. With hindsight I think we should have kept the bedroom doors open while we slept). *The cabin is a stone's throw from the highway. You can hear the sound of cars passing from inside and you can see them too if you stand by the lounge window. It's pretty easy to ignore but it might be an issue for some. *The beds are short. The kids were fine, the adults were a bit uncomfortable. But overall it's a great location and well worth a visit!

The Woods Are Yours.

While I had a bit of trouble, eventually resolved, with the wifi, this proved to be a fantastic place. The cabin I stayed in, Seaglass, is one of three set less than 100 feet from Hwy 1. Pines and firs intervene, and the sound of passing cars is not bad. Mostly, this is 50 acres of coniferous woodland with a large meadow and at least five lovely ponds, several of which lure ducks and a great blue heron. The paths through the woods are glorious, lush with mushrooms, moss, and violets, with spectacular Bishop pines and Douglas firs overhead, as well as redwoods, eucalyptus (!), and allegedly dawn redwood and sequoias. There is nothing finer than standing on the edge of a two-acre meadow as the sun lights up treetops then the frosty grasses. This place will become even better as a campaign to remove Portuguese broom (Cytisus striatus) begins to make inroads in this aggressive invader.
