Magical Cliffside Cabin on Piney Creek: Staircase Through the Rock Wall to the Creek Falls
Perched high on a limestone cliff overlooking a premier stretch of spring-fed Piney Creek, this unique 2-bedroom cabin offers a perspective you won't find anywhere else. From your private back porch with panoramic views, the air is filled with the soothing sound of the cascading falls directly below.
This isn't just a stay; it’s an exploration.
The true heart of the property is the journey to the water. A winding staircase leads you from deck to deck, through a natural opening in the rock, descending between towering cliff walls to the clear running creek below.
**Three Levels of Phenomenal Views!**
Unlike most properties where the view is limited to the top, we’ve designed the stay so you have a phenomenal vantage point from every single level:
• The Cabin's Covered Porch: Located right outside the back door—no walking required. This is the ultimate spot for morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening. It offers some of the most phenomenal views on all of Piney Creek, where you can watch bald eagles and herons glide past at eye level.
• The Cliff-Edge Deck: A mid-level escape with a gas firepit and torches. It feels like a private balcony suspended over the water, providing a breathtaking, bird's-eye view of the creek’s widest point.
• The Canyon Deck: Tucked at the bottom of the rock stairs, nestled against the cliff. Even from this secluded spot at the water's edge, the views are spectacular as you look up at the towering stone walls and across the shimmering, crystal-clear creek.
**Prime Piney Creek Waterfront**
The water here is crystal clear year-round. Use the free kayaks to explore the wide stretches of the creek, or simply wade in and let the spring-fed water cool you off. One of the best ways to relax is to sit at the foot of the falls and let the cool, rushing water naturally massage your muscles. It is, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful and peaceful spots in the Ozarks. Keep an eye out for deer, turkeys, otters, and the huge birds that often glide by.
**The Magical Evenings**
We’ve designed the outdoor spaces to come alive at night. With dozens of torches strategically placed, the light reflects off the massive stone walls, creating a glow that feels almost otherworldly. Whether you’re sitting by the wood-burning fire ring near the cabin or one of the two gas firepits on the creek decks, the atmosphere is pure magic.
**Celebrate with our Hidden Alcove Twilight Experience ($175):**
For those celebrating a birthday, an anniversary, or a romantic getaway, we offer an exclusive experience that transforms your stay into something truly magical.
This package grants you total, private exclusivity of our entire waterfront for the evening. Your journey begins at the deck at the top of the stairs, where a glowing fire and flickering torches already welcome you to the cliff's edge. Here, you can linger by the warmth and enjoy your chilled sparkling cider as the forest begins its transition into twilight.
When you are ready, you’ll descend through the rock wall into a hidden world. Torches lining the stairway will light your path down the cliff face, leading you to where the music is softly playing and a second gas firepit is already glowing on the bottom deck.
As the daylight fades behind the canopy of trees, the dozens of torches and random candles tucked into the natural cracks of the rock face are already burning. Their light reflects off the towering cliff walls, creating a golden sanctuary that feels entirely otherworldly.
A premium charcuterie board will be waiting for you in the Hidden Alcove to enjoy in complete, undisturbed solitude. It is an unforgettable way to watch the darkness settle over the water with someone you love.
Please note: At least 72-hour advanced ordering is required for this experience. While we cannot legally provide alcohol, you are more than welcome to bring your own favorite wine or champagne! Just let us know, and we are happy to have it ready as part of your experience.
**Modern Comforts, Rustic Soul**
Inside, the cabin feels cozy and grounded with hardwood floors and warm wood walls. On chilly evenings, you can curl up by the wood-burning stove to truly soak in the cabin atmosphere. While we are tucked away, you’ll still have high-speed Wi-Fi and a Smart TV if you need to stay connected.
A Note on Service: Unlike many remote rentals in the area, we handle all the trash for you. We want your departure to be as stress-free as your stay.
** Spacious Upper Level 2nd Bedroom**
The 2nd bedroom is accessed by a flight of walled stairs, with a doorless entrance at the top of the landing.
As the only room on this level, it offers a quiet retreat from the main floor. The large footprint provides plenty of room to spread out and feel comfortable.
Please note that while the stairway is private, there is no door at the top of the stairs, creating a seamless transition into the room.
Pricing is tiered by guest count: To keep the cabin affordable for couples, we offer a discounted rate for 2 guests. 1–2 guests enjoy a discounted rate for the main level, while the rate for 3–4 guests includes the full use of the upper suite and extra amenities.
**Location & Privacy**
We are located about 8 miles from the historic town of Calico Rock. While the cabin is peaceful, please note it is not isolated deep in the wilderness; we are part of a small creekside community. You will see neighboring homes as you arrive, and one is quite close and visible from the cabin.
However, the cabin is oriented for seclusion where it matters most: the back deck overlooking the water is all yours and feels very private. Once you head down the stairs, the lower decks and creek area are completely secluded with no other properties in sight.
We live on the adjacent acreage in the barndominium you’ll pass on the way in. Our home is built away from the creek and is not visible from the cabin, so you will have plenty of space to yourselves. That said, if you need anything during your stay, we’re close by and happy to help!
A heads-up on the terrain:
If you aren't used to Arkansas backroads, the dirt section of your trip can feel a bit daunting. While it is totally doable in a standard car (our neighbor drives a sedan and we've had Teslas visit), the road will be rocky with potholes and "washboard" sections. Plan to take it slow. From Calico Rock or Mountain View: About 15 minutes of gravel. From Melbourne: About 30 minutes of gravel.
