  • The location of Silver Bear 18 can not be beat! You can walk directly to Canyon Lodge and the gondola that goes to The Village! Relax after a long day on the mountain in this 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom cozy unit. Cook meals with friends and family in the large kitchen that features vintage appliances. The living room offers a flat screen smart TV and a sectional sofa. PLEASE NOTE: this living room does not have an operating fireplace. The master bedroom has a queen bed with a flat screen TV. The 2nd bedroom has a queen bed. The Silver Bear common area has an recreation room to enjoy with a lounge with a Foosball table, fireplace and reading area, as well as showers. There is a year round sauna, covered Jacuzzi, outdoor Jacuzzi, communal gas BBQ grill area and in Summer a small plunge pool and fire pit. Enjoy a heated underground parking garage for 1 car (garage clearance is 7' 2") with interior hallways and accessible elevator access to your unit on the 2nd floor. All guests receive complimentary full access to Snowcreek Athletic Club to enjoy facilities including indoor heated pool, steam/sauna, full fitness facility, yoga, Pilates and cycle studio and more. This unit is pet friendly and can accommodate 1 pet. Guests will be provided two parking passes. If more parking is required than what is allotted, feel free to call our office for alternative options. Our calendar is updated in real time. The water temperature is not controllable and it gets so hot it is dangerous. If more than one person is using water, it goes from burning to freezing.

Easy walk to Canyon Lodge.The biggest problem is that the beds are SO uncomfortable. If the owners fixed this, it would be a lovely place to stay. PLEASE get new mattresses and pillows!The property management company was very responsive to a few things we needed during our stay and was a pleasure to deal with.

Please get a new mattress set with a hybrid memory foam & spring combo.

Just ok

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The location is great and it has great views out of the living room but it is in dire need of some updates. Both beds were extremely cheap and uncomfortable. Mine squeaked everytime I so much as coughed. The kitchen has the bare minimum as far as cooking utensils go. Many were broken or melted. The fireplace was broken needs to be replaced, so the living room are was cold over by the windows. The lock to get in is difficult to open and lock. There are a lot things that just didnt make sense. Excess furniture making the living room hard to get a round, lamps that could be plugged in conveniently, and a lot of TV equipment that is outdated and could be streamlined. Also, NO HAIR DRYER. I feel this is a basic necessity, especially in the cold weather. I called management and they pretty much blew me off. June at mammoth reservations was great, but whoever I spoke to about the hair dryer, they couldn't be bothered.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I’d like to express our major dissatisfaction with our rental this last weekend. Unit did not come with any Firestarter, matches, etc. We could not light a fire to keep us warm. We had to call the emergency # and luckily Jake dropped by a Fire starter for us the next day. He also helped us get the fireplace lit. The instructions were also very poor. Unit did not include any working internet. Our party of four, could not text, email, access the internet. We were not able to check weather, road conditions, or touch base with home, office, pet sitters, or family from the unit. This was REALLY DISTURBING, considering the weather conditions not to mention what if there was an emergency we would not be able to be reached or reach out, ie. Call 911. To not have functioning WIFI (when it is advertised) is INEXCUSABLE. There was some type of plug in gas detector next to the fireplace that went off in the middle of the night. We weren’t sure what it was, but it seemed to be malfunctioning. It woke us up and had us worried for a period of time. This device was not explained. We deduced that it was not the carbon monoxide detector, and it wasn’t the smoke alarm, what was this? We had to open a window in the living room on a snowy night to give us some level of peace. We left it unplugged since it seemed like it was malfunctioning. Further, with no WIFI, we were not able to call, google it, etc. NOT COOL and REALLY UPSETTING. If you are going to have a device like this please explain it, keep fresh batteries in it! Soot on the ceiling over the fireplace was not re-assuring either. People should be warned of this unit, it is a money grab. It looks good in pictures, and it is convenient to Canyon Lodge, and the covered parking is nice.

Great Unit, Great Location

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have used Mammoth Reservations a number of times and Silver Bear #18 is the best one we’ve stayed in so far. The unit is well-appointed, spacious and offers plenty of room for up to 6 people (we had 4). We could not have asked for a better location which is just a short walk to Canyon Lodge. It is on the route of the Blue Line to the Village which made it very convenient when we did not want to drive. The only thing that we had an issue during our stay was the WiFi was not working, but a call to Mammoth Reservations provided a quick resolution when they sent a technician to help fix it. MR also gave us a brand new coffee maker because the one in the unit was broken. Kudos to Mammoth Reservations and their staff! Overall, a great place to stay in Mammoth. We’ll be renting it again next time we are up.

Walkable distance to the lodge (a bit of up/down hill path).There a couple things can be improved in this unit such as providing WIFI internet to guests and enhance the ignitor of the gas fireplace (it's difficult to start the fireplace).I recommend to stay in this unit.

Reviewer Comments: unfortunately my wife and my son got Covid 2 days before we check in.I was fine and we could go, but in respect to other people, and with the next guest to the house, we decide not to go.Call the office explained the reason we were canceling , I was told a credit was going to be issue.Never got credit neither a voucher to be use in the future.We had tickets and camp, Mammoth resort was super nice to issue voucher to be use in 1 year.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Rented for a 3-day weekend. - The location is great as you can walk 200 yards to the ski resort. Covered and enclosed parking is also a plus- the apartment itself is OK. but definitely more appropriate for a weekend than for a week-long rental. There's just enough dishes, pots and pans to check the box. Fine if you dine out of order take-out but not great if you plan on cooking. I stayed with my 3 teenage sons so we made due, but I wouldn't have earned points with my wife had she made the trip :-)- Most annoyingly, the Internet and the TV never worked. We can survive three days without TV, but we needed the Internet to attend meetings and classes and that failed. Worse, cell coverage is poor at that location, so we had no B plan. Internet access is really like a utility those days, it needs to just work!

Outdated and poor property management

We usually stay at Silverbear units for our annual mammoth trip, but we won’t be back at this unit. WiFi and cable were off when we arrived, we called property management and asked for help since we had to work some and needed internet. They never called us back and we had to call them- no one showed up to troubleshoot and they blamed it on too many people being in the area causing the internet to be slow- but the internet wasn’t working at all! My husband ended up fixing the cable on his own(which We should get some discount for). The kitchen was not very stocked and made cooking somewhat hard. There was constant construction outside every morning of our stay, which made the vacation sleeping-in impossible.

Master mattress is worn out. And all owners should be required to provide WiFi these days. Cellular service is unavailable in this unit (we had 3 cell providers that wouldn't connect).

Great little place. Perfect location for Canyon Lodge. We couldn't figure out the fireplace and the living room was cold due to the windows having bad seals. It made it somewhat drafty. Overall, great trip. I'd stay in this unit again.

Missing all the small amenities. No hair dryer, no dish washer detergent, no dish sponges, no garbage can and no garbage bags. Kitchen dis organized. Dishes down low instead of easily reachable. Guest bathroom shower door off the rail. Although disclosed there is NO WiFi
