Enjoy the best of the Ausable River Valley & Huron National Forest

Clean, Cozy and Perfectly Decorated, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath Cabin bordering the Huron National Forest.... just a short walk to the Scenic Big Creek. We are centrally located to all points of interest in Oscoda County.
You will be pleased to find a host of basic amenities. This is the perfect place to unplug from your busy life and enjoy watching the various wildlife and many bird species right out your window, relax, read a book and don't forget a quiet starry night campfire. Your stay can include many outdoor activities, such as: visiting the large neighboring Amish community with their tidy farms and unique stores, fishing, tubing, kayaking, canoeing, ATV riding, hiking, scenic overlooks and much more. We find that when many of our guests arrive they prefer to just stay and enjoy the very unique, quiet and natural surroundings.

This Cabin is an Adult Only Rental. We welcome 3 night minimum stays as well as weekly rentals.

* One of our main goals is to keep guests costs at a minimum. We do not charge a cleaning fee and you will not see a " Host Fee" when you finalize your booking. For everyone's convenience fiberoptic wifi is available. There is a Verizon Cell tower in our Village of Luzerne. We provide an up to date T.V. and D.V.D. player so bring your favorite movies and connectivity devices along.

- We are located in Oscoda County within the Huron National Forest and the Ausable River Valley.

-We are currently the 6th least populated county in the state, this includes the U.P. Counties.


There are several points of interest in the area.....

- A large Amish Community in the Mio area with many tidy farms and interesting retail stores.

- There is a very large network of ATV and Snowmobile Trails.

Enjoyed the weekend here once again, though the mattress was much harder than I remember and the TV remote's batteries were dead so I couldn't watch anything on TV. Also, someone running a chainsaw and wood-chipper nearby much of the weekend put a damper on my never-ending pursuit of peace and quiet.All in all, though, I very much enjoyed my time and hope to come back again next year.

The property presented exactly as listed. Beautiful little cabin in the woods. We were able to get out and kayak the Au Sable, explore the area, and just enjoy some down time away from the city. Nick was extremely responsive and provided excellent directions. We would definitely like to return.

The cabin was well stocked and clean. Nice location-a little road noise at times, but wasn’t an issue for me. Check-in was easy. My only issue was the list of things to be cleaned before leaving-the shower, toilet, sinks, sweep the floors, mop the floors, sweep the front stoop, take garbage with you, make the bed, (even though you bring your own sheets?) There were specific instructions on how to clean and leave it for the next guest. I don’t mind straightening up but feel a guest shouldn’t have to “work” after having a relaxing visit. My suggestion is to get help with the cleaning and adjust that into the price. MHO I did not enjoy the pressure of leaving the place “like you found it”. Or at least post these requirements into your description so it’s clear what is expected.

A great getaway

I stayed for a few days just to get away for a bit. The cabin was quant and clean. I enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels, having a fire every night, hiking on the nearby trails, and generally just relaxing. Would highly recommend this location. The hosts were wonderful and everything was super easy.

A peaceful spot

What a gem Nick and Laura have here. Perfectly sized for a couple. So cozy and clean. I would sit at the table and watched the birds all day and have been happy. The wood stove was a welcome warmth after trails and hikes all day. The bed was extremely comfortable. If you are looking for peace and quiet. This is your place. Awesome Property and Great Host

This is the cutest cabin in the woods with the cutest furniture and set up. It is set off by itself and very peaceful. The Hosts were very responsive and provided lots of information (including some sites to see in the area). This was our first VRBO rental and it went off without a hitch! It worked perfectly for my husband and I. While it can sleep more people (with the futon and fold down chair) it would get a little cramped I think. Everything is provided to cook, clean, etc. that you might need. We loved watching all the animals at the bird feeder outside the big sliding door. We used the fire pit (propane) on the back porch one night and had marshmallows over the fire. There is a nice fire pit for real wood with chairs around as well, but we were under a high fire risk advisory while there so didn't opt to start a real fire. We loved the location and everything about the property. The one note I might add is that while it is very nice and in the woods, it is also very close to the road. There is plenty of trees and a privacy fence on the deck so that you would not really notice it, except if you are outside and a car drives by. You can hear the road nose, even from inside sometimes. It isn't a super busy road, but is traveled often. Not really a deal breaker for us, but wanted to highlight this for any other renters. The only thing that would have made it better was if it was about 200 or 300 feet back further from the road :-) We certainly stay again!

Fabulous Getaway Retreat for 2

This is an absolutely wonderful place for a single or couple to getaway for the weekend. We would stay again in a heartbeat. The cabin is incredibly clean, updated and well appointed with furnishings and amenities, including a wood burning stove, a gas flame table and chairs on the deck, a fire pit, a new gas grill, and two outdoor deck areas to eat and sit in the sun. The kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, and cooking utensils. They had everything we needed for cooking two nights of meals (including some utensils you normally don't expect). The cabin is a short walk from access to Big Creek if you want to fish, and has good wifi and a TV that allows you to sign into your Netflix or Amazon account or hook up other devices you may have by HDMI cable (provided). One thing to be aware of is to check the "Amenities" and read all the way to the bottom to be aware of bedding/towels and cleaning conditions. They keep the fees low because they ask you to bring your own towels and linens and to do your own cleaning when you leave. We actually saw this as an attractive feature, as the savings on fees was well worth simply having to bring sheets and towels and the small amount of time it took to clean and leave the cabin in the condition we found it. Again, we couldn't have been more delighted with the cabin and plan to return again. They are wonderful and highly responsive hosts.
