POIPU - MANUALOHOA #506; ENJOY THE VIEWS !

Spend your day at the beach, out hiking or golfing then back to the condo for a beautiful sunset and BBQ ! Spacious, airy 2 bedroom, 2.5 bath condo with fantastic ocean and mountain views. A short walk down the greenbelt path to both Brennecke's and Poipu beaches and a 15 minute walk back up through the greenbelt to Grand Hyatt/Shipwreck beach area. Beach not your style? Then head for the pool (unobstructed ocean view) or the tennis center. Something for everyone. Most local restaurants and shopping are within walking distance and/or a short drive away (1.5 mi). One of the best locations in all of Poipu with a scenic pool area overlooking the beach.

John was the kindest host I've ever rented a vacation home from. The home is just like the photos, and the sunsets are indeed beautiful. The ocean is visible from the lanai, and the stars are very visible on a clear evening/early morning since Kauai has virtually no street lamps, and I hope it stays that way! Our suburban children were impressed. The location is a short walk to Poipu beach, and it's easy to drive both east and west to visit some other beaches (especially in the winter). The north side takes about an hour to get to, which was not too bad, since we spent most of the time on the south. Costco and Walmart are just under 30 mins away. Everything is convenient. The kitchen is well equipped and had everything we needed to be able to cook breakfast or other meals. Three new a/c units were just installed, and they kept us very comfortable. The swimming pools and hot tub are great, and parking is very easy. It was a perfect stay for our family of five for almost two weeks. You won't be disappointed if you stay at John & Aana's place!

Good location, quiet and roomy, pools were fine, the A/C was lacking - okay at night, but unbearable in late afternoon & evening especially in the Livingroom/kitchen. I specifically paid for a place with A/C and was way disappointed with swamp coolers. bread went moldy in 3 days it was so hot! The furniture, stained carpet & fridge are very aged and not so clean. 50% of the dishes & Glasses were not clean, no auto dishwater liquid to use, a few dead bugs & mice droppings on top of refrigerator! Shower door would not close and leaked, I advised the owner of that and few other things, said someone would come by, no one ever did! i feel a bit ripped off.

This was our first time on Kauai and this unit is in a great location! The deck views of the ocean and the sunset were beautiful. The unit was larger and roomier than I thought, and the kitchen was well stocked. The beach toys/gear were plentiful and of good quality. Some of the rooms were hard to cool down with the stand-alone A/C units, but this is typical of the islands in general. Most places do not have central air conditioning. If you want this, you'll probably want a hotel. Overall, my family enjoyed staying in this property.

This was our fourth time staying in this general area in the last six years. We obviously love the area with its easy access to beautiful Poi Pu beach. We traveled with our son, daughter in law, and two grandsons ages 5 and 7. They stayed on the lower floor and my wife and I used the hide a bed on the upper floor. We made several meals in the kitchen although the upper floor was a bit warm. The bedrooms, bath, and showers on the first floor accommodated all of us. The short walk to the two pools was a perfect way for the boys who are not swimmers to enjoy water (minus sand).

Fabulous place.

The property has access to three great beaches, two pools and many wonderful hikes around the area. The owners are good communicators and have that Aloha spirit. The condo itself is both luxurious and spacious.

Peaceful Poipu Place

I loved this unit. Great location and free parking makes everything very accessible. Unfortunately half of our party (wife and son) came down with a cold but the unit was big enough and comfortable enough that it made convalescing a little bit easier. They spent a lot of time on the lanai looking at the ocean. My daughter and I were able to enjoy Kauai more fully, got a day of diving in and even 9-holes of barefoot golf in on a nearby super casual little course nearby. Plenty of space to relax, facilities were great especially the hot tub, and nearby showers to rinse sand off from the beach and dive gear off from diving and spacious secure lanais for everything to dry. Nice kitchen made it easy to cook breakfasts and even simple meals like shrimp scampi (the only thing I’d suggest adding to the kitchen is maybe a small rice cooker). Now, don’t get me wrong this isn’t a substitute for the Ritz - it’s not like you’ll be in a 5-star setting (spot AC units, can get a little warm upstairs if you’re not used to the climate, furniture and fixtures a little dated) but if you want a safe, family friendly, clean, comfortable, fairly priced home away from home setting and don’t want to be squeezed in a tiny hotel room for 3x the money then this is a great option. Full disclosure, I live in Oahu and appreciate the “Hawaiiana” aspect to this unit and would wholly recommend to any other local looking for a Poipu getaway to check this out.

Great mont in Poilu

We had a great stay at this great location. We are a family of six with kids of all ranges and it was good for all. We enjoyed daily dips in the two pools and daily walks to the beach. There are walking paths every which way with many restaurants and shops within walking distance. The home was great with all the things we needed. AC in the rooms that got the warmest with fans that keep you cool at night. Cooking in the kitchen was easy as they had all the supplies needed. The linens and towels were comfortable. The beach closet was full of stuff to take to Poupi. Parking was easily accessible and close to unit. This is a great place to stay for all reasons!

Great Location. Need updates

The location is amazing and the view is great. Owners are quick to answer questions. We knew from past reviews it was dated but I would also say rundown. Bathrooms were clean but that was it. Rusty fans. Duck tape fail fix on the AC unit. Kitchen dirty with almost unusable pans/supplies. Beach chairs are nice all other supplies broken and need replacing. I did give all our issues to the host and they did say they would look into it. So fingers crossed maybe better in the future.

Perfect Location

This rental has a view and is a three minute walk to a beach with waves and 5 minute walk from a kid/snorkel beach. As a parent, packing up the kids in the car is a big hassle. The closet in the rental has all of the beach gear and a wagon to get you down there. Food, snacks and shave ice are right across the street. This location is also ideal for friends who want to cook or grab some take out and enjoy the view. My husband and I love running and long walks so the trails and pathways made for some great exercise opportunities. I really did not need to make contact with John while we were there, but he was always responsive before, during, and after our visit. Thank you! We hope to visit again soon!!!

this property is amazing! The owner John is extremely responsive and the unit is fully stocked with everything you need including beach, toys, etc. you can walk down to Poipu Beach in about six minutes and the beach to boogie board at in about four minutes.

Amazing location and property!

The condo is in an amazing location and has wonderful views of the ocean. We enjoyed the short walk to Poipu Beach and all of the amenities in the community. John was a great host and very responsive, and provided very helpful information about the location and suggested activities before our stay. Poipu Ocean View

We couldn’t imagine a more perfect location- we loved hearing the sound of the ocean, as well as watching magnificent sunsets and whales from the upper lanai. We could walk to multiple beaches each day and still come home for lunch and a break from the sun in the middle of the day because the ocean is so close! Both the pools were enjoyed by our kids- if one was busy it was nice to be able to use the other. We had great communication with our hosts, John and Aana, which was fortunate when the fridge stopped working. They responded right away and despite the difficulty of getting a repairman or a replacement, they saved the day by sending us a generous gift certificate to Brennecke’s Restaurant for the evening I had planned to prepare a special meal for our newly engaged son and his fiancée (as our big Costco grocery stash was going bad and I was uncertain if it was ok to eat). The fridge issue was not easy to resolve but eventually we were able to borrow a small fridge from friends in the area so we could keep bare essentials cold. John and Aana agreed to refund us a substantial portion of our cost, which eased our frustration at the fridge situation. We are so thankful to have been able to stay here, and highly recommend John and Aana as hosts. A drying rack for all the wet suits and towels and some better fitting screens in the windows would make it even better. Thank you John and Aana for your kindness in sharing your special place with our family.

Beautiful views, amazing location

My husband, 14 month old, and I had a wonderful stay at Manualoha #506. The unit is large and a perfect set-up for a family, and the views were amazing. We had all of our meals out on the deck and saw some really special sunsets. The kitchen had everything we needed and the beds were super comfortable. We loved the pool, hot tub, and the proximity to Poipu Beach (watching the sea turtles was a highlight!) as well as being near to the Maha'ulepu Heritage Trail, which we hiked three times! It was especially hot (upper 80s) while we were there, and the upstairs did get quite warm, but we were very grateful for the air conditioning units in the bedrooms. John was incredibly responsive, and made sure we had everything we needed for the baby- a baby gate and pack and play were both available. The closet is fully stocked with beach gear, though we didn't get a chance to use any of it as we were chasing a toddler around. We can't wait to return!

Beautiful location

This is a great location with fantastic proximity to the beaches of Poipu. It is a two story condo with bedrooms downstairs and kitchen/living room upstairs. Unfortunately the upstairs is not air conditioned which was a deal breaker for my family. The place was honestly great just too warm. John and Anna were amazing hosts though and were willing to refund us for the nights we didn’t stay for leaving early. Super accommodating and we appreciated it!! Would definitely recommend if you’re not sensitive to the heat. And I should mention they provided many fans as well!

Perfect Location!

This was our first time to Hawaii, so we were out to enjoy as much as we could in the week we had. We had our 8 and 10 year old children with us, and this house couldn't have been more perfect for our family. John and Aana were extremely quick to respond with questions, gave a ton of recommendations (hikes, sightseeing, beaches, restaurants, etc.), and their home is more that equipped with anything and everything you could need. The kitchen is fully stocked with plenty of extra touches, extra bedding and pillows for the bedrooms, and the games for the kids were perfect (as well as the beach supplies!). The pictures don't even do it justice. We LOVED the views (especially the sunsets!) and enjoyed breakfast outside on the upstairs lanai every morning. Being walking distance to the beaches was amazing. We made the drive up to the north side of the island a couple of days as well as some hikes in the canyon on the west side, so this location is great if you're looking to visit all areas of the island. We absolutely loved our stay and cannot wait to visit again!

We loved the location, convenient to almost everything on the island and the best beaches, and the condo offered a lot of amenities for the beach and in the kitchen. Hosts were fantastic and responsive to our emails. If it wasn't for the lack of central air conditioning to cool the second floor comprising the living room, dining room and kitchen, we would have rated the condo higher. After a morning/afternoon of beach time or sightseeing, we would come back to the condo and find the temp would be hotter inside than outside the condo. We figured out a way to cool the second floor to a tolerable temp by placing fans strategically, pulling down all the shades and opening windows on the first floor to move the heat out. Even better results if we left the entrance door wide open. There are a/c units and fans in the bedrooms that can be run at night and make the rooms comfortable for sleeping. We sometime had to retreat to the bedrooms until time to head out for dinner because the second floor was too hot. Note that the high temp was 85-88F while we were in Kauai.

Clean & great location!

Check-in was easy, the instructions from the owners were spot on. The location was great! We had access to the pool (which hardly anybody was there) so it was nice not having tons of people around. The beach is within walking distance…. And the “beach supplies” that were in the closet were fantastic! From a parents perspective, that was the best thing, by far! Brennecke’s & Kalapaki Joe’s were mere steps away, it was great. The owners were wonderful about communicating with us for help. Over all, I would definitely recommend staying there. Can’t wait to come back!
