Tahoe Pines Retreat sits in the trees just above Kings Beach, a three-level townhouse with forest views out back and nothing but pines between you and the next ridge. It's an easy base for groups who want the lake in the morning, the mountain in the afternoon, and a quiet place to land at the end of the day.

The main level has the classic Tahoe character people come up here for: vaulted ceilings, wood-paneled walls, big windows, and a stone fireplace at the center of the room. Living and dining sit close together, so meals roll easily into card games and movie nights, with two 55-inch smart TVs for the evenings everyone wants to stay in. The kitchen is stocked with everything a group needs to cook real meals, from pots and pans to utensils and serving pieces, along with granite counters, wood cabinetry, modern appliances, and a beverage fridge. Breakfast before the beach or dinner after a ski day comes together without a grocery run for basics.

The best seat in the house is out on the balcony. With no neighboring townhouse or road directly behind the home, mornings out here are just coffee, breakfast, and the pines, and in spring you can hear the seasonal creek running nearby.

Bedrooms are spread across all three levels, which gives everyone a little room to themselves. The entry floor has a king bedroom and a bunk room with four twin beds that kids tend to claim right away, plus a full bathroom. The main floor adds a second king bedroom and the home's second bathroom, and the top-floor bedroom has a twin trundle for extra sleepers.

Step outside the front door and the community opens up. The grounds are made for a slow walk under the trees, and there's a play area where kids can burn off energy. Guests also have access to a large seasonal pool with shower rooms, a dry sauna, a fitness room, and courts for basketball, tennis, pickleball, and bocce, so there's always something to do between outings.

Kings Beach is about five minutes downhill, with Lake Tahoe's clear water, a sandy public beach, and cafés, shops, and restaurants along the shore. Old Brockway Golf Course is just around the corner, and Incline Village and Sand Harbor's turquoise coves are an easy drive along the north shore. In winter, Northstar is about 10 minutes up Highway 267 for skiing and snowboarding, with shuttles also available. Whether the trip is built around beach mornings or powder days, it all comes back to the same quiet spot in the pines.
