Open Dec 24-27 for Christmas! Have you ever longed for a true luxury experience in the Purcell Mountains? Your search is over. Kimberley, BC is a golf mecca in the summer and a hidden gem of a ski destination in the winter. The resort-base, Stemwinder Chalet by Simply Kimberley, is an incredible basecamp for memory-making in the mountains The firewood is stacked high, the steam room is hot, the AC is cool and the good times are waiting. One of very few properties in Kimberley with 12 beds.

Tod and Alicia, the ownerw, are tourism professional operating Simply Kimberley, a vacation management company focusing on our premium properties. We live and breathe Kimberley tourism. The Stemwinder Chalet is set up for contactless check-in with keyless entry. The door and garage codes are shared before your arrival.

Stemwinder Drive is the main entrance to the Kimberley Alpine Resort base area. Note, you can cross-country ski from the back door over to the Trickle Creek golf course where XC skiing is permitted. In summer, it's a 10-15 minute walk to Trickle Creek Golf Course although most of our golf groups choose our golf-shuttle option.

Most guests arrive by car. However, if you’d like private shuttle, our transportation business, Resort Tours and Transportation, provides charter transportation from YXC, YYC or FCA (Kalispell). In summer, our primary clientele are golf groups who enjoy our packaged green fees and daily shuttles.

The Stemwinder Chalet has access to the neighbouring paths and the many biking and hiking trails of Kimberley, BC. The property itself is accessed through the front entrance, ground-level back entrance or the single-car, garage entry door.

After a long day of golfing, skiing or adventuring, retire to the bubbling jets of the hot tub and then chil by our natural gas fire table or build a cozy fire in the living space fireplace. When it’s time to retire, you’ll hear the queen-size log beds whispering your name. From winter 2026, we now have 12 individual sleeping spaces (10 real beds + two new pull-out sofas) as we realize the importance of sleeping 12 people in their own beds.

LIVING SPACES
Framed by 600-year old locally-sourced larchwood posts and beams, a river rock fireplace (firewood is supplied), and two-story windows, the living room is nothing short of spectacular.

It’s not hard to picture yourself cuddled up on one of the leather couches in front of a roaring fire as you sip on a mug of spiced cider, surrounded by your friends and loved ones. Can you hear the conversation and laughter?

Later it’s time to venture downstairs to the TV/game room to take advantage of the 65” UHD with Netflix and Telus Optik and Telus 1G WiFi throughout. If you’re more in the mood for a friendly competition, the seat eight (8) poker/games table and an outside, covered set of cornhole (bean bag toss) can provide hours of fun and camaraderie. A large Solos stove with surround seating sits outside in the back yard. Whatever activity you choose, it will be in breathtaking style at the Stemwinder Chalet.

COOKING & DINING
The modern and fully-equipped kitchen features a professional Wolf stove and everything you’ll need whether you’re creating full-course meals, easy lunches, or simple snacks. The extra-long peninsula bar provides additional food prep space, as well as seating for 4.

Bring back the family meal tradition at the adjacent dining table for 12. Take advantage of the opportunity to share stories and plan your further adventures.

SLEEPING ACCOMMODATIONS & BATHROOMS
With six bedrooms and four baths, there’s no doubt everyone in your party will find their own comfortable space to claim.

On the main level, the carpeted main bedroom has a king sleigh bed, a matching dresser, nightstands and a private door leading to the outside hot tub. The en-suite bathroom offers dual vanities, a leisurely soaking tub, and a walk-in shower.

The second level has three carpeted guest rooms, two with queen beds and the other with two twins. These bedrooms share a hall bath with a tub/shower and a double pull-out sofa lives in the upper common reading area.

The lower level of the home features two guest rooms, each with a gorgeous log queen bunk bed set. The larger bedroom also has a twin bed and the games room has a new queen sized pull-out. These bedrooms share a spa-like bath with a decadent 4-person steam room and walk-in shower.

OUTDOOR AMENITIES
If you close your eyes, it’s easy to picture the warm, soothing bubbles of the hot tub massaging weary muscles. When you manage to emerge, it’s time to light the natural gas fire ring and gather around the circle, perhaps as you’re dining on a dinner grilled on the 3-burner, natural gas Weber BBQ.

We provide off-street parking for up to 5 vehicles, as well as a single-car garage. Our property line is separated from the walkway by a row of larch trees, which turn out in all their golden finery in the fall.

WHAT'S NEARBY?
In the Southeastern corner of British Columbia, a detour off Highway 95 will take you directly to the Platzl - the shopping and dining heart of downtown Kimberley.

We have the Canadian Rockies in our front yard and the Purcell Mountains in our backyard, making us the perfect starting point for both vacation memories and adventure-seeking. In Kimberley, we’ve got all that you’ve come to expect in a classic British Columbia mountain ski-town, with a few twists.

You’ll find 80+ runs and short lift lines at the Kimberley Alpine Resort. It doesn’t get any better than that!
If you dare, head underground to learn about our town’s 125-year mining history. Stock up on your organic snacks and cold-pressed juices at the Stoke Market aka “the gas station”.

With over 160 kilometres of trails and easily accessible trailheads, seven golf courses within a 30-minute drive and a number of beautiful lakes, there’s something for everyone, from the novice to the expert and kids big and small.





The mountain to Platzl ski hill shuttle is available during winter. Or, Simply Kimberley runs a small fleet of passenger vans, buses and an SUV for charter transportation.

Our home is pet-friendly with the signing of our Pet Policy ($25/night/pet). Please contact our reservations team team, if you'd like to bring your furry friend. We have a built in, wood-burning fireplace for cold winter nights, bubbling Hot Springs branded hot tub, and central AC for the hot summer nights. In May 2025, we installed 14 solar panels on the roof that now produce ~ 35% of our annual energy consumption.

The City of Kimberley is governed by a Good Neighbour Bylaw and our quiet hours of 10PM - 7AM must be respected. Stemwinder Drive is a street of residences and vacation rentals. To protect our property and to respect our neighbours, the Stemwinder Chalet is NOT a “party home”. Please rent a condo if your group is coming to Kimberley to party. We operate with License STRU 2022-105 (8 occupants).

Our chalet is equipped with a Minut device. This device monitors the property's sound levels, occupancy, and temperature while protecting our guests’ stay and privacy. For additional security purposes, the front doors exterior is monitored by a Nest cam.

Unfortunately, at this stage, we are not wheelchair-friendly.

Good space in the property for a group of 8. Beds were all good and the hot tub and sitting area on the back deck were both great. One shower did not work properly (the owner says he is trying to get it fixed) and the kitchen is quite small. No room for more than 2 people at a time. There is also no TV on the main level. Overall a good place to stay that met our needs.

Great Venue!

The Stemwinder Shalet is a beautiful home and was very well stocked. We were a group of four families, whom all had kids between 6 and 8 years and there was tons of room for all of us. Tod was very helpful and quick to respond to any questions. The location is close to the ski resort but wasn’t quite ski-in/ski-out. It took about 5-10 min to walk up to the lift. When the path is snowed in enough, you can just about ski pole your way to the backyard. For most, it was just easier to drive the 1-2 minutes to the parking lot. We would definitely stay there again!

Better Than Advertised!

My family of 5 and in laws spent 5 nights at the Stemwinder in mid December. The property is outstanding as is Tod, the host, who was very responsive to any inquiry. The home comes with lots of extra creature comforts and is very spacious. The location of the property is great as its sandwiched in between some exceptional restaurants, the nordic ski track and of course the alpine resort. We will return!

The place is beautiful and very large. Easily can sleep 12 people. The hottub, steam room, table tennis were all hits with our group as was the large TV in the basement. The location is magnificent and we have already booked to go back next Christmas!

Beautiful property - has everything you need!

We had such a great weekend at this beautiful property. The outdoor space was perfect for enjoying the beautiful fall weather, and the inside was such a cozy but luxurious feel. The rooms were all well separated and provided privacy and comfort to all guests. The dining table was perfect for a group of 10. We're already talking about coming back next year!

Helluva great time!!

Our group of 12 guys had a great time here for our annual golf trip. Lots of room and lots of amenities to enjoy including hot tub, ping pong, fire table and fire pit. The added bonus of having everything including green fees and bus transportation to/from our chosen courses as booked and paid through Tod at Simply Kimberley made everything so much easier and enjoyable. Highly recommended and will definitely be booking here again!

Great place for extended family holiday

Our family of kids, their spouses and our grandchildren really enjoyed our stay. Great location ... close to playground, great for mountain biking, road cycling and hiking and not too far from the lake. Upstairs rooms got a little hot (no air conditioning) despite cool evenings on the mountain, but it was manageable.

Spacious, cozy, quite and many pleasant amenities!!

Our family of 12 (9 adults and 3 children under the age of 3), and 2 dogs, recently, April 2019, stayed at the Stemwinder Chalet and we were very impressed with the amount of room and the many amenities the house had to offer. The hot tube and fire table on the deck; the heated bathroom floors; the steam bath in the lower bathroom; ping pong table; hockey nets and sticks and more. The kitchen was well supplied with all the equipment we needed to serve Easter dinner for our crew without unpacking the baking and serving dishes we brought. There are plenty of dishes and silverware and the fridge was large enough for the supplies we brought. The chalet is very cozy and comfortable and the sleeping arrangements worked very well for our family. The bed rooms were very quite and noise did not carry from one floor to another. Our grandson wanted us to stay forever and thought we could all live there together! Tod was very accommodating to our early arrival and a later then normal departure. Everything work as designed and there was no need to contact Tod during our visit. The neighbors were very accommodating also. We will definitely be back next year as this was a very comfortable chalet for a large group. RDM

The place was perfect for our big family! Beautiful place! The only downside was that the bedrooms upstairs were super hot and even opening windows didnt help as there was no breeze and it didnt cool down much at night. I do realize that we were there in a very hot week though.

WONDERFUL ACCOMODATIONS

Thank you for opening your cabin to us. We had a wonderful time. The cabin accommodated 4 families comfortably. Plenty of dishes, towels etc. for everyone. Beds were comfortable. Only issue we had was the heat was a little unbearable with no air condition. Would recommend this cabin.

This house simply absorbs people and can accommodate many with a great deal of privacy. The outside space works very well and there are beautiful surrounding trees. The furniture is comfy and the layout really works. We went in the summer but could see ourselves renting again in the winter. The owner was extremely helpful.
