  • Hale Kona Kai 301is a nicely updated oceanfront corner condo with wraparound lanai that promises an unforgettable getaway in the heart of Kailua Kona. Nestled right at the water's edge, this charming one-bedroom, one-bathroom retreat offers breathtaking, unobstructed views of the ocean, making it the perfect spot to witness stunning sunsets each evening.
    This cozy 576-square-foot condo is designed for comfort and relaxation, accommodating up to three guests. The spacious bedroom features a luxurious King-sized bed, ensuring a restful night's sleep after a day of adventure. The living area is bright and inviting, perfect for unwinding with a good book or enjoying a movie on the cable/satellite TV.

    POOL NOTICE: The pool will be closed from June 21 - July 2, due to exterior work being completed close to the pool area.

    AIR CONDITIONING UPDATE - January 2026
    In the late fall of 2025, the central air conditioning system at Hale Kona Kai was replaced. The HVAC equipment that services the individual condo was also inspected, with and any and all required maintenance/repairs completed. The air conditioning is in peak condition at this time.

    The fully equipped kitchen boasts modern appliances, including a stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, and coffee maker, allowing you to prepare delicious meals with ease. Enjoy your culinary creations at the dining table or take them outside to the private balcony, where you can savor your meal while soaking in the ocean breeze.

They thought of every little thing!

This place was fantastic. Super clean, everything you need in a kitchen, unbeatable view, even some Kona coffee! We had everything we needed here and more. It was perfect.

Location was amazing. Close to dining and shopping. We did our own excursions and knew we had a great place to come back to unwind and watch the sunset and the whales.

Beautiful place to stay.

This property is absolutely amazing! Our lanai was right over the ocean where we got to watch a sea turtle, numerous fish, and beautiful sunsets. Very close to town and within walking distance to restraunts and shopping.

Great spot!

A great spot just outside of the hustle and bustle of downtown Kona, and right on the water! Can't beat the view, and it's an easy stroll into town. Also a cute little beach about 3 mins down the road. The apartment is simple, but has everything you need for a comfy stay, and the view from the lanai doesn't get a lot better!

Fabulous home away from home

If you love sunsets out on the lanai and falling asleep to the sound of crashing surf then this is a great place to stay! Clean, comfortable and with a well supplied kitchen in case like us, you would rather cook than eat out. The highlight of the apartment is the lanai which is where we spent most of our time enjoying the ocean views and the amazing Kailua-Kona sunsets. We had a great vacation here and will be back.

This was our third time we stayed at Hale kona Kai it was another good stay the biggest concern was the AC problem the portable units worked but we're noisy and made the room seem musty

Awesome location

We've stayed in this unit several times and have never been disappointed. It is one of the few corner units, which give you better views and a bigger lanai. Walking distance to shops and restaurants in the Kailua Village. We will be back.

The condo, the property manager and the bed were great. The view was breathtaking and the sound of the surf was amazing. Had some issues but they were taken care of. It had an elevator which was a must but the pool was down due to being updated so that was disappointing. Would stay again.

Great Stay

Unit 301 is excellent. Very private with a side window that allows a great breeze and also very private as it is at the very end of the building. Love this complex and it is one of the best places to stay in Kona. It is a very short walk to restaurants and you can see turtles from your balcony. The ocean is so close that you feel like you are in a cruise ship when looking out the unit. We stay here every year.

Very nice

We loved our unit at Hale Kona Kai. Views were amazing. Would recommend replacing the chairs on the lanai as they are rusting out. Shelves in the refrigerator door were broken. Also would recommend putting a grab bar in the shower.

Great location, clean and great views. Needs serious upgrades, way outdated. Tile work on floors and shower are terrible. Would I stay here again? Only when it gets upgraded. It's nice but could be much better. Pool is not heated, very cold.

An OK stay

When we arrived, there had been a leak in the ceiling from a clogged AC unit that required a repair along with an humidifier that ran for a few days. The unit smelled very musty and the manager did the best they could. It was an unfortunate situation so no blame on them. The best thing was the view and corner unit. Outstanding! It was very clean with good appliances and a well appointed kitchen. Great shower pressure! Great location! It's is just a tad dated but again, very clean. Onsite parking included. I would stay here again.

Absolute Waterfront

The Accommodation was great, comfortable and we were able to check in slightly earlier as we had flown in earlier, the only setback was no garbage bag liners for the bin in the kitchen, but that's minor, the only weird thing is the parking allocations, they can be opposite ends of the building from the accommodation like ours was, ours was being used by tradesmen, so was able to use another space, but it was a little puzzling. The Lagoon next to to accommodation was great for spotting fish, and we did see a lone turtle in there too, plenty of the yellow fish you can see from the balcony as well as turtles on our second to last day. Good Food options Close and shopping. Will come back again in the future

The central air conditioning has been out for the last few years. The pool is not heated. The outside needs updating , painting and repair, termites in the wood work. Needs someone who cares a outthe property to take care of it!

Condo was OK, but didn't care for Kona

The condo was as pictured – right on the ocean, with waves crashing below our lanai. It is in a location where you can walk to a number of restaurants; and it has parking (I forget if we paid extra for it or if it was included) – parking here is pretty limited, so we were glad to have that. The condo is also on a street that angles off from the main road, so it is quiet and gets little traffic.Overall, this was an OK place to stay, but there was one big issue and a couple smaller ones. * The big issue is that we didn’t care for Kona that much. It is quite crowded (cruise ships dock here frequently), and if you are walking any significant distances you’ll sometimes be on sidewalks, and sometimes in something like a bike lane along the edge of a busy road. We like to walk, but this was not that pleasant a place to do so. Your mileage will vary, of course. Obviously, this is not the condo’s fault. Two things that keep the condo from getting five stars is that * We could hear the footsteps of the upstairs neighbors; I assumed they were heavy-footed, until the downstairs neighbor knocked on our door and expressed the same sentiments. That is a first for us, so I think the floors are pretty thin. * The apartment was a little musty (as is often the case in humid tropical environments) when it was closed up. One of us is very sensitive to mold and odors; the other was not bothered, but as we kept the condo open to the air it was not a problem.

Awesome Location

-Location. The condo is very close (walking distance) to all of the restaurants along the main drag, but slightly removed. We enjoyed being able to walk to dinner and drink every night while other scrambled for the limited parking spaces. Honestly it was perfect for us because the hotel next door blocks all the noise. We could only hear the ocean. -Building. The building is clearly dated. We rode the elevator the first day and were a little uneasy inside. We took the stairs the remainder of our trip. Laundry is $2 to wash and $2 to dry. I was able to get a roll of quarters from a nearby hotel. The parking stalls are oddly arranged. The parking spot assigned the the room is on the opposite side of the building. It seems like it would make more sense to switch with someone who has a unit on that side of the building, but it wasn’t a deal breaker. Room. The condo was perfect for two people. Honestly the view was my favorite part. Anytime we had downtime in the room, I found myself sitting on the balcony. The window in the bedroom looks like it has rust or something spilled on it from the outside. Initially it made me feel a little dirty until I realized it wasn’t on the inside. Hopefully that gets fixed. Then the bed felt soft to me trouble sleeping. Overall, if your looking for somewhere safe, close, and has a good view I would recommend staying here. We enjoyed our stay. A comfortable, well-located property

This is a clean, comfortable condo, well-suited for two people. Nicely furnished, updated kitchen appliances, very comfortable bed. Excellent lanai overlooking the shoreline and ocean, and the assigned parking spot is a real benefit. Located on the southern edge of Kona, it is an easy walk into town. We recommend this property.

Nice relaxing vacation!

The condo was clean, comfy, and well equipped. And the view and sound of ocean waves are unbeatable! The location is very walkable and the beaches within 1 block are lovely. Included parking was super helpful. I would definitely visit again!
