« Peaceful solitude. I really enjoyed the quiet location and lush grounds. Our hosts were very warm, friendly, responsive and helpful. The unit was clean and functional. It has "the basics" for cooking but not much more. My wife gets a bit anxious being "out in the boonies" so she did not relax and enjoy it quite as much as I did. Our college student son survived two full days without wireless! The roaming signal was pretty good. Volcano NP Visitor Center is 40 minutes away and the nearest...

« Lovely location near the beach, an easy walk. No snorkeling on Punalu’u, but we saw turtles on the beach every day and kids were boogie boarding and swimming. 40 minute drive to Volcanoes National Park, and we spent 2 days exploring there. Very open and airy island home. High ceiling made it feel very spacious. Feels remote, and the complex was very quiet. Birds and geckos will visit you on the lanai. No A/C, but it cooled down quickly with the breeze at night when the windows were open...

« It was very convenient location in Hilo. Next to lovely grounds. I did not see a hot tub, but did use pool. We had a mountain view but not an ocean view. The 3 balconies were great for viewing. For the price this is a good value. The bathtubs are old. But, they work fine. It is an older unit and building, but it was comfortable. Two bedroom and two bathrooms. Has coffee filters and shampoo. Has parking under facility. Walkable to a beach and lovely park area. »

Feels private most of the time.Unit has 2 units above and one on side...if your neighbors are noisy at night you are going to hear them...needs some kind of sound deadening for the ceiling. »

« We had a great time at Na'alehu. We arrived after dark and the road to the apartment was a little bit scary, as some parts are not paved. But just keep going to the top of the hill and you'll find the place. Vickie and Wesley were very friendly and exeptionally helpful during our stay - thank you! The place is close to south point, green sands beach and Punalu'u black sand beach (where green sea turtles sometimes come to rest). We also recommend the Punalu'u bakeshop with delicious treats. »

« We had a comfortable stay. Could have used a bigger clearer sign at entrance - but house was right there and as it was in the picture. Plenty of room to park multiple cars and plenty of space inside. We were a little concerned about no AC but temp went down to 65 at night and was quite comfortable. Cannot drink from the tap - this was a surprise (was it noted on listing?) but host provided bottled water so it was not an issue - just a surprise. We were disappointed that we did not meet the dogs!...
