Helt igennem TOP-klasse

Publié le 26 juil. 2015
Les + : Beliggenhed, standard, betjening, service.
Les - : Klarere kommunikation om, hvad der kommer på regningen - og hvad der er "on the house".
Situation : SUPER!
Hotellet er helt igennem top-klasse. Måske næsten en smule "for meget"... (?).

very good hotel, food not the best

Publié le 13 juil. 2015
On the whole, we were very happy with this hotel. The location is wonderful, the room had all of the amenities and was very comfortable and the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Our main negative was the food. We kept seeing ads for the hotel's food as being wonderful, winning prizes, but our dinner wasn't the best and their breakfasts were just OK. Our room was on the third floor and there is no elevator. It wasn't a problem for us, but for some, it might be a problem. If you ate elsewhere, I would recommend this hotel.

Hotel With A View

Publié le 25 juin 2015
Les + : View
Les - : Food preparation. Size of room
Situation : Close to the ferry terminal in Skye
We had lunch when we arrived and felt was wholesome but quite ordinary and decided not to have supper most likely a good choice for my kippers for breakfast was undercooked and needed to be sent back. Our room though tastefully decorated and clean was miniscule so that our luggage could not be opened without blocking our bedroom door. The hotel has a very good view.

Very disappointing.

Publié le 14 juin 2015
Les + : Room was clean
Les - : Truth in advertising.
Pictures shown are not the whole story. This is what we encountered: - Tiny room with about 2.5 feet of space around the bed. - Double bed. - Could hear the next door neighbor talk. TV was loud and had to ask them to turn it down. - Breakfast was very average. - 3 stations on the TV. - Internet service slow and spotty. Our last night, we could not get any service. - Staff was just "fair." - Toilet had issues with flushing. - This was interesting: The locals we talked to had a real disdain for the hotel. One said it was a "rip off." - We spent over $300 per night and are very disappointed. This will go down and one of the worst hotel experiences in recent memory for us.

Good and Bad. Way too expensive for the room.

Publié le 3 juin 2015
Les + : The location, staff, gardens.
Les - : For the money 'very expensive' the room amenity and size was unacceptable and unreasonable. It spoilt what might have been an otherwise good property.
Situation : The Isle of Skye was very scenic.
The hotel itself is lovely and has been nicely renovated in a very tasteful manner. Is in a lovely location with nice gardens on the Isle of Skye. The staff were very good. Had their fixed price dinner - somewhat over priced by the time you had a couple of drinks though it was was over all very nice. Good breakfast. Here I'm rating the hotel somewhere between 4 & 5 out of 5 (as have the majority of other reviewers). However, the room was (as was the rest of the hotel) nicely & tastefully renovated but for the very expensive tariff (not allowed to mention hotel rates here) the room was unreasonably and unacceptably small and dingy with only one small window. So small was the room that two of you had to plan movements in the room around your luggage and each other. There was very limited storage space. The bed was a good size & comfortable however one edge was under the sloping roof. My patience with the room size ran out when Mrs B Traveller (5ft 3") whacked her head on the sloping roof when negotiating her side of the bed ( you had to bend over to walk around that side of the bed). The room would have been better suited to accommodate a single bed and single person. Based on the poor accommodation which I rate a 1 out of 5 I give the overall rating of 2 out of 5 and a 'non recommend'.

Wonderful Place!

Publié le 20 avr. 2015 sur Hotels
We decided to stay at Duisdale House for one night as a splurge during a road trip around Scotland. Despite it raining heavily, we did not feel hampered in the slightest. Duisdale is such a lovely place, we easily kept ourselves occupied. As a resident and graduate student, we don't have a very high budget, so we booked the cheapest room category but were given a free upgrade to a canopy bed with a sea view upon arrival. Quite a warm welcome! The room itself, with a table and chairs before a bay window overlooking the shore, would have been enough to make our stay special. During afternoon tea, we were delighted by a cozy parlor with a fire, fresh scones, and homemade jam. We had the gourmet dinner, which consisted of canapés followed by four courses just large enough to satisfy without weighing you down and featuring local ingredients. The wait staff were very pleasant and one truly helpful individual advised us on the best local beer. After dinner we lingered for a while over drinks in the parlor. Sitting there among the other guests, we found ourselves wishing more hotels maintained the communal space that was once so central. At breakfast, I opted for the porridge, followed by smoked salmon and eggs. My boyfriend had the full Scottish. Everything we were served was delicious. The only thing I cannot attest to is the garden, but it appeared lovely from the dining room. I hope we return to Skye someday. If we do, will be sure to budget for another night at Duisdale.

Les - : Wifi and hot water very unreliable. Also, ordered beer and several bottles of wine from the wine list at dinner and none were available. Disappointing
Situation : Lovely location to the south of Skye.
The hotel was lovely but at the price we paid we expected a little more.

Fabulous staff, modern rooms. A world away from the old fashioned country hotels we see in Scotland. Would definitely return.
