Peaceful Escape by the Water. Relax with the whole family at this peaceful place to stay. Tucked in the woods with breathtaking views of the river. Fire pit, large deck, river access and so much more!
Main floor features a cozy living room, full kitchen, full bathroom, and queen bedroom. Upstairs offers a private queen bedroom and half bath. Downstairs includes a bunk room, full bath, washer/dryer, extra seating area with TV, and guest laundry. Outside enjoy a large deck with river and mountain views, wood fire pit, BBQ grill, walking sticks, and fishing poles for guest use.

The River House Retreat is located in a quiet, friendly residential area situated just one block from Highway 2, offering easy access to the West Entrance of Glacier National Park (approximately 10–12 minutes away). Guests can expect a welcoming community where locals are known to wave and smile, providing a safe and peaceful environment for relaxation.
While the immediate vicinity features good neighbors who own their own homes, some nearby areas may appear less maintained or "run down" due to the town's status as a working community serving park visitors. Despite occasional comments about the general neighborhood aesthetics, the specific location is described as quiet, safe, and convenient, with local amenities like Carolyn's Cafe, The Big Bear, and grocery stores within walking distance.
The area serves as an ideal base for outdoor adventures, with Flathead River access, white water rafting, and fishing opportunities nearby. In winter, the location supports cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and access to Big Mountain Ski Resort in Whitefish. The neighborhood offers a blend of rustic charm and practical proximity to both nature and essential services, making it suitable for travelers seeking a tranquil yet accessible stay in Montana.
You will have a keyless entry system at the front door the day before your check-in.
There is a main queen bedroom on the first floor with an attached full bathroom, with tub and shower combo. There is also a full size stackable washer and dryer set in this bathroom.
The main floor also hosts a large living room with two story windows overlooking the river as well as a formal dining room and fully stocked kitchen.
Out the sliding glass doors in a two decker deck with more stunning views into West Glacier and outdoor dining table and chairs.
Upstairs is a loft room with a queen size bed and a half bathroom.
Downstairs is an additional laundry room area as well as rec room with a pool table, additional TV and couch area as well as a bunk bed and a queen bed around the corner. There is also a full bathroom with a stand up shower.
You will need a car as this property is remote from Kalispell. If you are visiting during the winter months, I would encourage a 4-wheel drive vehicle as the driveway is somewhat steep.
GPS will show you turning off Highway 2 on Beta Road, but you should instead be looking for Middle Fork Lane
Middle Fork Lane is on the eastern edge of Hungry Horse. If you are traveling from the airport in Kalispell, the train depot in Whitefish, or driving from Missoula or Spokane, turn left off Hwy 2 at the top of the hill just east of Canyon Baptist Church. Continue past the large steel artist’s building on the right. The road tees almost immediately; turn right and take the driveway that is furthest to the left. You will see a sign in a tree that has a light blue board with a fish, with the number 133 on it. There are a series of short switchbacks that will take you down to The River House. Please reach out to the Guest Contact if you need further directions
