Winnats Pass is a hill pass and limestone gorge in the Peak District of Derbyshire, England. It lies to the west of the village of Castleton, in the National Trust's High Peak Estate and the High Peak borough of Derbyshire. We arrived at 7.00am on a very cold Sunday morning in January with the temperature outside being -4, we climbed up the side of the gorge and setup the camera's and waited for the sun to rise and when it did the light was stunning hitting the hills in the distance and partly lighting up the village of Castleton, after around 2 hours we made it back the the car with our hands so cold that we cold not feel them anymore so we started the car up and put the heater on full and headed into Castleton for a well earned full Engish breakfast and large pot of tea.

« Nous avons eu la chambre N°1 qui est vraiment agréable avec un grand lit confortable. Idéal pour se reposer après une journée de marche. Le soir nous avons diné à l’hôtel en ayant réservé une table. Nous avons attendu 30 minutes avant que quelqu'un prenne notre commande. Et j'ai été déçu par la nourriture, sans doute que je m'attendais à quelque chose d'une plus grand qualité dans ce genre de cadre. En conclusion c'est un lieu vraiment chouette et typique pour séjourné, mais ma mauvaise...

« Really great hotel in a perfect location... Our room was perfect, clean, large & well furnished. Bed, linen & towels all freshly laundered. Evening meal was well presented with lovely fresh local products. The menu and choices were very varied. ( Maybe not too much choice if you dont eat red meat. ) The dining room is well set out and in the summer months would be lovely to be able to sit outside ( we visited January 2026 ) The breakfast menu was equally charming and a difficult decision...

« We have just returned from a couple of nights at Brewers Cottage and thoroughly enjoyed it. The cottage is spotlessly clean, tastefully decorated and bigger than it seems from the photos. Foolow is convenient access to some lovely areas and walks in the Peak District, and just a 10-15 minute walk from the cottage is the local pub that does fabulous food and has very friendly staff. Do take a torch for the walk there and back on darker nights though!! All in all, a fantastic stay and we would...

"Second stay here. This time check-in was slick and efficient; last time it was slow. When you are arriving at midnight after a long and delayed journey, the last thing you want is to fill in a form with the same details that should already have been transmitted by Hotel.com / Expedia. For me the price / quality is reasonable compared to other hotels in the immediate vicinity. However I still find the breakfast expensive and with no option to choose just the continental option at a more reasonable price. "
