Absolutely Filthy â We Left the Next MorningWe were extremely disappointed with our recent stay at this VRBO rental in Hilton Head. While the property itself has clearly been beautifully renovated, the cleanliness was appalling and completely unacceptable. Upon arrival, we immediately noticed a strong mildew smell throughout the house. There was visible sand on the floors, stains on the couch, and the bathroom was disgusting â hairs in the shower and drawers, making it feel like it hadnât been cleaned at all. The worst part: we found blood on one of the comforters, which was absolutely horrifying.The condition of the home was so bad that we checked out the very next morning and had to scramble to find another place to stay on the island â at our own expense. While the owner did send a cleaning crew out quickly after we complained, many of these issues could not be solved with a basic cleaning. Unfortunately, the owner was completely unhelpful beyond that point â refusing to refund our money for the filthy rental and refusing to cover any portion of the new lodging we were forced to find. He was rude, dismissive, and unwilling to take responsibility for the unacceptable condition of the home.Weâve stayed in many rentals over the years and have never experienced anything like this. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere â a nice renovation doesnât mean much if the place is filthy!
