Getting Around:
Birch Vale is a small village located in the High Peak area of Derbyshire, within the Peak District National Park. While the village itself is quite rural, there are several ways to get around Birch Vale and explore the surrounding area, whether you're using public transport, walking, or cycling.
Birch Vale is served by several bus routes connecting it to surrounding towns like New Mills, Glossop, and Hayfield. The main bus stops are located along the A624 and in the village centre. Bus services are generally infrequent, especially on weekends or during off-peak hours, so it’s advisable to check timetables in advance.
The nearest railway station is New Mills Central, 1.2 miles away from Birch Vale. It is served by trains on the Manchester to Sheffield line and offers direct connections to Manchester and Sheffield, as well as other regional destinations. New Mills Newtown is also in reach.
A 25-minute walk, either directly into New Mills or via the Sett Valley Trail as an idyllic walk.
