SLEEPING

Five king beds, eight queens, one double, five twins, and a crib. Twenty-eight people. Two master bedrooms have en suite baths and their own screen porches, one with two twin beds. Seven more bedrooms run off a single hallway in the west wing.

THE KITCHEN

Commercial, because cooking for 28 is a different job than cooking for six. A six burner Imperial range with two ovens and a flattop grill, a commercial refrigerator, and two dishwashers. The dining table seats 20 at one table. Nobody eats at a kids table.

GATHERING

The main hall runs along the lake with windows the length of it, a wood fireplace, and a sitting area with a TV. There is a second wood fireplace. The game room has a pool table, ping pong, foosball, bumper pool, and a card table.

SUMMER

A private dock with stairs into the water and a sandy bottom for swimming. Two full length courts for basketball and pickleball, with poles for a volleyball net. Bring your net.

FALL

Color peaks in Sawyer County in early to mid October. Wisconsin gun deer season opens the Saturday before Thanksgiving and runs nine days. The Chequamegon mountain bike race is in September.

WINTER

Both fireplaces burn wood. Snowmobile trails are close enough to ride to without trailering. The American Birkebeiner runs Cable to Hayward in late February.

Hayward is under eight miles. Duluth is under two hours.
