Great location. Simple cheap and honest.

Les + : Staff, food, room.
Les - : Can't think of anything
Situation : On the A30, but the rooms are in a building a bit away from the A30, so there is no noise. Very handy and convenient for Blackwater, Camberley, etc.
Nice clean room with everything I needed (TV, tea and coffee, Ironing board and iron, spacious bathroom.) Restaurant had well priced, decent food. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Cooked breakfast was nice. Very close to my meeting in Blackwater. Could not have asked for more, especially for the price. Highly recommended.

One night stay

Publié le 26 oct. 2015
Les + : Staff
Les - : Full refurb
Situation : perfect to get to M3
My stay here was fine. It's a bit outdated but for one night who cares! There were a few hairs in the bath but it was clean other than that. I feel it's a bit pricey for the standard but you do get a full breakfast included so that made me feel better about the price. The food was excellent at breakfast and coffees that we had later on were great. No tummy troubles from here which is a bonus. The whole place is due for a full refurb I'd say though. Very worn and bashed throughout generally but staff excellent and very friendly and courteous.

Good hotel for one night.

We had to come to Farnborough for a funeral, so bookedwithout any knowledge. The staff were lovely, from reception to dining rooms and bar. The beds were comfy, room was clean, tidy, included everthing we would need. We had forgotten toothpaste but no one could a welcome pack. The only thing I would complain about is the walk round to the front of the Pub for the dining and breakfast rooms. As it was raining we got a bit wet. But overall, it was a good stay. Food and rooms were very good, and very good value. Will definately stay here again.

Poor management

Very unpleasant staff. Very unaccommodating. Made us wish we had never booked with them. I would recommend that Expedia remove this property from their roster.

Room to hot

Publié le 31 août 2015
Les + : It was convenient for our visit to family.
Les - : Think it could do with a revamp, the reception carpet was filthy
Situation : N/a busting family.
Our stay was ok, only 1 night, but was far too hot all night,. We were on the ground floor and didn't feel good about leaving a window open especially as there wasn't a small one to open. The Breakfast was ok, only 1 waitress serving the whole dining area, wait wasn't too long but felt sorry for her.

Checked in late but well before the time hotel said to ring them .... no-one on reception, locked "gates" across the desk that remained the same when we were being attended to ! Had to ring the pub to find someone and waited ages ! All decor v tired and dated ...

Stayed for two nights to attend a family wedding close by. Room was clean and comfortable, tea/coffee making facilities, iron and ironing board. Breakfast was a bit of a let down, stay clear of the scrambled eggs!! Food at the Ely was very average.

One good night: one bad night

Publié le 24 juil. 2015 sur Hotels
Having read mixed reviews, I was a little nervous about staying at The Ely. I recognised the value for money and took the risk. This is a well-run pub and hotel with pleasant, efficient staff. Both dinners and breakfasts were tasty and service was certainly not slow. I had one early breakfast and one late one and it was noticeable that fewer staff were on duty after eight o'clock: I guess they were diverted to other duties and this may have accounted for previous reports of poor service. My sole waitress was rushed off her feet, doing her best and doing her work with a cheerful disposition. My one gripe? Why have plastic mattress protectors? This is not a hotel for the incontinent and, having a terrible first night I stripped the bed of its plastic layer and slept very soundly on the second night.
