The space
The upper level is the heart of the home. The open great room and chef's kitchen have glass walls that open to a deep oceanfront lanai, with a Viking gas range, multiple ovens, a wine cooler, and a big island for gathering. The primary suite has a king bed, a private ocean-view balcony, and a spa-style bath with a waterfall jetted tub and a glass-enclosed shower. Next door, the kids' suite has two twin beds plus a trundle and its own full bath, and a quiet workspace with a desk, monitor, and printer sits between the upper bedrooms. Downstairs, two king suites each open to a private oceanfront lanai, and the fifth bedroom has a queen bed, a pull-out sleeper, and ocean views. There's a laundry room on each level. After a session in the water, rinse off in the heated outdoor shower, fire up the grill, and watch the sun set over the surf from the lawn.

- Traffic on Kamehameha Highway can be slow during big surf events; plan extra time
