What makes us so special? 1. Many homes along the Sacandaga Lake area are located on very steep hills. We are fortunate that our home is on 5 acres that are pretty flat! 2. We see Deer around our apple trees almost every morning and night. 3. Many homes near the lake have neighbors very close by. We are fortunate that we are on a secluded road with little traffic and we have ample space between neighbors. 4. Many homes around Sacandaga Lake have little to no cell service. We are fortunate that there is a cell tower close to our home, so we tend to have good cell service. 5. Ready to wind down or just need to keep the kids busy? Smart TVâs are in all 3 bedrooms & the living room. Using guest mode, you can use your own log in for Netflix, Hulu, Amazon prime, etc. and it will automatically log you out at the end of your stay!
The Story: The Lazy Bear Cabin was built in 1990 but has recently been remodeled to become the retreat of our dreams and now we are ready to share it with you. Our yard is very spacious and there is lots of wildlife in the woods area, who knows, maybe youâll even see a bear! We hope that you enjoy our cabin as much as we do. Life gets hectic and sometimes we need a gentle reminder to put ourselves first every now and then. We decided to name our home âThe Lazy Bear Cabinâ to remind of us that when we are at the cabin, it is okay to be âLazyâ and relax.
The Great Sacandaga Lake is a man-made lake with a surface area of about 41 square miles and a length of 29 miles. The word Sacandaga means âLand of the Waving Grassâ in the local native language. The primary purpose for the creation of the reservoir was to control flooding on the Hudson River and the Sacandaga River by use of the Dam. Water levels fluctuate depending on weather conditions and Damming but tend to be the highest at the beginning of the season and the lowest at the end.
Guest access: Guests have access to the entire house aside from the furnace room. Guests do not have access to shed or garage. Guests do not have access to the washer/dryer.
Early check-in/late check-out: If you would like to check in early or check out late, please let us know at the time of booking. There is a $30 fee for early check-in or late check-out. Although it is not guaranteed, we will make every effort to fulfill your request.

Great location for a weekend away. Friday and Sunday relaxing at the lake and Saturday at the track was a great trip for some college friends to catch up and have a quiet weekend away! Highly recommend!
The Lazy Bear Cabin was awesome. It was everything we needed and more. Jessica was responsive and accommodated all of our requests. Highly recommend this property. Comfy and cute!
I canât express how much this vacation meant to my family. The cabin was a perfect fit for my family of 5. I watched my children challenge themselves in kayaking, fishing, and hiking!! All of which they succeeded. Such a beautiful piece of the world to get away to! Jessica was wonderful at communicating and answering all of our question both before and during the trip! We are so happy she opened her home to us and we could create so many memories! My kids cried when leaving each saying they wanted to stay at the Lazy Bear Cabin!
We stayed for two nights and easily could have done a week. From the bonfire area, kayaks and dock access, kid-friendly details like toys and board games, the kids were in heaven! The adults enjoyed the quiet, porches, true log cabin feel, and kitchen accessories to make cooking a treat. We did white water rafting 20min away and it was incredible.Thank you for everything!
Property was beautiful and clean, Jessica was very accommodating and communicative throughout our stay. Would definitely recommend to others and hope to come back at some point in the future!
We had a great time at the cabin. Itâs cozy and has everything youâd need for a vacation get away. Although, the dock and kayaks in the Lake are a bonus we didnât get to use them due to very windy conditions. Jessica is a great host and very helpful.
The cabin was incredibly clean and free from mold/ musty smells. The space was charming and very adequate for a family of 5. The porch was the perfect meal time spot with the view of the large property and occasional deer/ blue jays. The golf cart was so much fun and having access to the lake and kayaks made the trip. We rented a boat on the lake one day to top off an awesome week. It was the cabin and setup we were envisioning when planning the trip so to have it work out was great!
We love the cabin. We were surrounded by nature and we loved it. The cleanliness of the cabin was wonderful it was wonderful and it was also great to have access to the golf cart. We fully recommend this cabin and we also had great communication The entire time.
This cabin was beautiful, so clean! And wonderfully placed for our family to getaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. You will be shocked how close deer come up in the yard to eat off the apple tree, and up to you! The owner Jessica is awesome and is always ready to communicate or help in any way! I would definitely stay again if in the area! Thank you for helping make our stay so wonderful!
