« We live in Edinburgh but had to book somewhere to stay while we were having work done at our house and Sycamore Cottage was perfect for four of us. The bedrooms are really spacious and the kitchen is really well equipped which isn’t always the case in self catering accommodation. We didn’t think we’d need to use the log burner but a typical Scottish spring meant we used it a few nights and there was plenty of logs left for it. Easy to drive into Edinburgh or can get the train from Gorebridge....

« We traveled with two kids under four, my spouse, and her parents. The apartment had tons of space and a nice patio as well. This cottage is literally built within the wall of the castle grounds. The very windows you look out to see the ocean and the sheep are built right into the wall. The walk around the property is fantastic. « We recently stayed at May Cottage and it was just what we needed. The cottage is lovely and much bigger than we anticipated, especially the bedrooms - they’re a really big! Kitchen has everything you need and even though we had taken hand wash and washing up liquid etc, it was all provided. Even dishwasher tablets! The views from the garden are exceptional and it was very quiet. We loved sitting watching the families of swallows flying in and out of their nests and listening their babies...

« Lovely spacious well-heated house in beautiful countryside. We had a week of snowy weather which was heavenly. Edward, the owner was extremely helpful. He towed out some cars which got stuck in the car park by the house, provided lots of logs, replaced the washing machine which had problems and was generally a great help. This is a house for people who like old books and furnishings...don't go there if you want modern posh. »
