The Little Green Cottage in the Woods

Nestled between M22 & Lake Michigan in beautiful Glen Arbor, MI., The Little Green Cottage in the Woods was built originally as a garage to the neighboring “Barn House”. It has since been renovated (2019) to accommodate family & friend gatherings, while providing a private & intimate setting.

The Little Green Cottage in the Woods is a 1 Bedroom Loft, hidden between Lake Michigan & Downtown Glen Arbor. A 5-minute walk to Lake Michigan allows for beautiful views of Sleeping Bear Dunes, both Manitou Islands & sunsets that go unmatched on a nightly basis. Although the beach is public, it very much has a private feel & is a great spot to relax & let little ones play. A walk along the beach will either take you towards Downtown Glen Arbor & Sleeping Bear Dunes or America’s Freshwater Resort, The Homestead.

Beautiful Glen Arbor consists of fun restaurants, live music, a newly renovated outdoor park, miles of walking & biking trails, cute shops & boutiques, the Original Cherry Republic, Boondocks & local favorite, ART’s Tavern. Just 5 minutes from town is both Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park & picturesque Glen Lake.

The Little Green Cottage itself backs into the Crystal River. Kayaking from the river into Lake Michigan or into downtown Glen Arbor is a great way to relax & enjoy a beautiful Northern Michigan day. The outside of the property also includes a built in fire pit, outdoor seating, heat lamps, charcoal grills (with easy operating instructions), bikes, basketball hoops, hammocks, nature trails, yard games, toddler toys, balls & racquets, & a heated outdoor shower!

The cottage was designed to allow for an intimate gathering of family & friends. The layout & accommodations consist of a main-floor bedroom & bath, upstairs loft with trundle beds & full bath. The main floor also has an open kitchen concept with direct access to the patio & beautiful views of nature. The kitchen includes a refrigerator/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, gas oven-range, & a large island w/ample counter space. It is also equipped with a main floor clothes washer & dryer.

If you happen to be spending time indoors, the home comes with card games, board games, strategy games, puzzles, retro gaming consoles, LG OLED SmartTV w/Soundbar, Hi-Speed Wi-Fi, books, binoculars (great bird watching), & wonderful beds for napping (no bad beds).

The sights of Northern Michigan are breathtaking & ever-changing. Tour the Leelanau Peninsula via scenic M22 or take a day exploring Historic Front Street in Northern Michigan’s largest city, Traverse City.

At The Little Green Cottage in the Woods, exploration awaits, adventure is encouraged & memories are waiting to be made.

Great stay. The location is perfect - walking distance to Glen Arbor, Lake Michigan and the Sleeping Bear Dunes Heritage Trail but feels so secluded and peaceful! The house is cute, cozy, clean and had every amenity we needed for 6 of us on a girls’ weekend. We were treated to amazing fall colors and perfect weather and we loved relaxing by the fireplace. The host was very responsive to any questions we had. Would definitely stay again.

We’ve been to the little green cottage before and that’s why we were back. It’s a great space it’s close to everything. It’s in a fabulous surrounding and so close to Lake Michigan. You can walk to the beach. Host is always quick to respond and accommodating, friendly and helpful. The cottage is big enough for a big crew, but even though it is the two of us keep coming back.

This was a truly beautiful property to stay in. Well done with amazing high end finishings. Easy walk to the Mill for coffee (which is always packed). Easy walk to Lake Michigan (about 5 mins). Easy bike ride to Glen Arbor. Great walk on the beach each morning -- walking to downtown G.A. and then grabbing coffee at Leelenau Coffee. All in all it was a great Labor Day weekend trip. The house is more located on a swamp part of the river where the water was very low (maybe b/c of the bridge work where they have damed up the water) but it was almost impossible to get the Kayaks in there. We placed them in at the small dock but they sank in mud. My kids were able to get them unstuck and into the larger part of the river. This did NOT bother us.... I picked them up farther down the river with my truck so they didn't have to try and come back through that. We would definitely stay here again. It was just amazing and so well done. Thank you!

Loved it

Best of both worlds. Tucked away in the woods and near Lake Michigan, but a quick bike ride to town. Cottage is absolutely charming, well-appointed, and perfect for a family vacation with kids.

We had a gathering with ten people. All our adult children and their loved ones slept in the loft upstairs ( twin beds with trundles) and one double. It was like camp:)! They had a bathroom up there as well. My husband and I stayed on main floor and there is a bathroom on that floor also. We had an amazing time. Took the kyaks from the property into the Crystal River, Lake Michigan beach walking and biking distance right down road( beautiful sunsets) and town is a 3 min bike ride. This is our 19th year staying in Glen Arbor and we loved this location! The cottage is adorable and well thought out. We played bags and had a campfire every night. Loved everything about it, beds are comfortable and cottage has everything you need, owner is super responsive and helpful. It was an absolutely perfect stay, you will love this cottage!

Location, location

Great spot just east of Glen Arbor. We love to golf Sugar Loaf/Manitou Passage and go to leelenau wineries/restaurants so the being on the Northeast side of town is perfect. Quick walk to the beach. Very comfortable, bright and clean. Love having access to the kayaks fun river ride to lake MI. Only downside for some folks will be that there is only small private bedroom and only a double bed in there (we are used to king so...hubby slept in loft LOL) But we knew this going in! Rest are sleeper sofas and twins and a double up in loft--can sleep a lot if your group wants to be together all the time! They have certainly made the most of the space. Lots of outdoor fun and games and a campfire pit. We used it all!

Cute cottage in the Woods

The green cottage was so cute and well stocked. We loved spending time on the back porch. It was peaceful with Crystal River behind the house. We saw deer every day and enjoyed the sounds of nature when opening the windows in the morning. Our young adult children enjoyed playing basketball. There is a short walk to the beach, which we enjoyed in the morning and evening. The owners quickly responded when I had a couple of questions. I highly recommend this property and would love to stay there again.

Little Green was just what we needed!

First of all, the house is spectacular! It’s well appointed, comfortable, clean, and would be great for larger groups, too. It couldn’t have been any better for location, a block from the beach, short, walk to downtown, easy drive to great restaurants and wineries.The large patio in the back right on the river was a perfect place to enjoy coffee or a glass of wine.We will definitely be coming back to this lovely little spot.

Such a wonderful property. Kitchen had all the necessities. Perfect for us. Daughter’s family stayed upstairs. They loved it. Everything we were hoping for. Hosts were more than gracious, even brought us a fold up table so we had lots of seating for our Christmas dinner. Also put up a Christmas tree. The house was beautiful! I would definitely recommend. The perfect little cottage for a family vacation

We had the best time at the Little Green Cottage and cannot wait to book another stay. They had everything (and more!) that we needed for a really fun beach vacation. Great communication with the owners, too! The setup was perfect for our family with parents sleeping in the master bedroom downstairs and our 4 kids all in the bedroom upstairs. The NFL Blitz arcade game up there was the highlight of the kids stay :) we will be back!!

Best weekend

Had a girls weekend with 10 girls, plenty of room for everyone! The house was amazing and everything surpassed our expectations. Loved the back yard and all of the yard games provided. Very close to town and walking distance to the beach. Loved everything about the little green cottage and can’t wait to come back.

Amazing cottage!

What a gem!!! We had a wonderful time at the Little Green Cottage in the Woods. My kids would have been content to stay at the property the entire time! Hammock, corn hole, and other games kept them busy! But we loved the short walk to the beach and town. The house was the perfect size for our family of 6 and had everything you needed and more. It was our first time visiting Michigan and already my kids want to go back - to the Cottage. Highly recommend a stay here!

Exceptional. The cottage was the perfect place to stay for our family (adults and children) up north getaway! The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need (we traditionaly prep quick meals). It had plates, cups and utensils for kids which was really nice. Very clean and great outdoor area to eat, play, relax and enjoy smores over fire pit. Kayaks available to use and beautiful Lake Michigan beach very close! Would recommended highly!

Gorgeous house in great location!

The house renovations are just as pictured and gorgeous. Can fit bigger groups and has a great outdoor patio for entertaining or enjoying the firepit. Location is also excellent with a very short drive to downtown. Perfect place to stay, highly recommend!
