The Space:
Escape to Somerset and stay in this expansive Georgian home. You’re located in the charming village of Beckington, near Frome, surrounded by Bath-stone houses and pretty greenery. So when you’re not keeping cosy at home, head out to the local villages for artisanal markets, a thriving food scene and plenty of history.
Step inside to find a home that’s comfortable and loved. Large, spacious rooms are perfect for entertaining - whether it’s long dinners in the conservatory or exciting board games by the fire. You’ve got two living rooms to choose from, one with a wood-burner and one with the TV. Meanwhile, the well-equipped kitchen offers everything you need to cook delicious, hearty meals!
Upstairs, the comfort continues. Sleeping 7, it boasts 3 king-size bedrooms and a single bedroom & 2 bathrooms, one of which is an ensuite.
Guest Access:
Guests will have full access to the cottage and garden.
The Neighborhood:
The house is located in Beckington, a quaint village, where charm meets countryside allure. There is a variety of dining options within walking distance - two local pubs offer excellent pub cuisine, while the award-winning delicatessen "Mes Amis" is situated in the heart of the village. Additionally, the nearby BP services include an M&S convenience food and wine shop.
For those seeking fresh produce, a short stroll will take you to the well-known Beckington farm shop, White Row Farm. Here you can indulge in a delightful cafe experience, explore the farm shop and gift store, visit the fishmongers for the daily catch, enjoy takeaway fish and chips, and take advantage of the outdoor seating area. Families with young children can also enjoy the on-site play area.
Nature enthusiasts will find themselves in paradise with the surrounding countryside at their doorstep. Lace up your walking boots and embark on scenic hikes along the nearby footpaths, where rolling hills and meandering streams create a tranquil backdrop. Explore the idyllic landscapes of the Mendip Hills or the enchanting woodlands of Longleat Forest.
History buffs will delight in the rich heritage of Beckington and its surroundings. Take a leisurely stroll through the village and discover its historic landmarks, including the iconic 15th-century Beckington Castle. Don't miss the opportunity to visit nearby attractions such as Farleigh Hungerford Castle, a medieval fortress steeped in history, or the mystical ruins of Glastonbury Abbey. And if that wasn't enough, the world-famous Stonehenge can be reached in only 30 minutes. This is widely considered one of the most important prehistoric monuments in the world dating back over 4,000 years.
The historic market town of Frome is also only 10 minutes drive away. As well as a large selection of artisan shops you can also enjoy the monthly market (1st Sunday of each month). Here you'll find tons of food trucks, and stalls selling everything from antiques to groceries and more.
Further afield, the Roman City of Bath is around a 25-minute drive and offers outstanding Architecture, mixing the 2,000-year-old Roman thermal baths with modern Bath stone buildings. During the build-up to Christmas, Bath also has a German-style Christmas market typically running from the last weekend of November until late December.
Getting Around:
Due to the remote nature of rural Somerset, a vehicle is recommended to make the most of your stay here. Ample off-road parking can be found on the driveway for your convenience.
If you do travel by train, the nearest station is in Frome around 10 minutes drive or 25 minutes cycle.
Other Things to Note:
The BBQ is available for use from April to October.
Please ensure noise is kept to a minimum between 10pm & 8am. There is an external security camera.
Please note, we are only able to host holiday-makers & families and we will not be able to accept commercial bookings.
We are only able to accept last minute bookings (within 3 days of arrival) from family groups. Please contact us for more information.
Thanks.
