The cottage is set in Banavie, which is close to the Caledonian Canal, about 4 miles from Fort William’s town centre, off the A830 and borders onto the village of Corpach. Banavie enjoys exceptional views of Ben Nevis, and the Caledonian Canal passes by the village at Neptune’s Staircase, which is a set of lock gates that raise vessels into Banavie upper canal area. Banavie has a train station which is part of the West Highland Line between Fort William and Mallaig. There are great walking opportunities as The Great Glen Way walk passes through the village via the old tow-path route along the canal bank to Gairlochy. You could enjoy a shorter stroll along the canal watching vessels navigate. It’s a nice walk or cycle from Banavie into Fort William via Caol village. You are within a short distance of the village of Caol, pronounced "Cool", which has a supermarket, a pub serving food and some takeaway eateries. It also has a beach where you can enjoy walks along the shore front with stunning views.

Many people come to Fort William to visit the UK’s biggest mountain, Ben Nevis, which is part of the Aonach Mhor mountain range. Wherever you travel in Lochaber, you will be impressed by it’s spectacular beauty, wild mountains, coastal and inland lochs, and clean white beaches. You may see some of the elusive wildlife such as red deer, otter, golden eagle, or minke whale. For the outdoor enthusiast, climbing, walking, skiing, mountain biking, fishing, golf, horse riding and various water sports are available locally.

Visit stunning castles and gardens, sail to the beautiful island of Mull, take trips to the small Isles or spend a day exploring the Ardnamurchan Peninsula.
