The Sandlot -

Stay right on the beach! Nestled just steps from the Atlantic Ocean is this completely updated 8 Bedroom, 6 Bathroom cottage that sports incredible views, an oceanfront pool, hot tub, and spacious oceanfront trex deck.

The home is currently offered as a single family rental. Originally set up as duplex, a doorway INSIDE the home between the living rooms separates or connects the two sides. This allows you to enjoy and share your space, but also gives you the convenience and separation should you choose!
(TWO kitchens, TWO Living spaces!)

The layout includes two identical sides. This means there are two fully stocked kitchens (one on each side), and two family rooms (one on each side), with a doorway connecting the two sides that is accessible from inside the home.

The home was renovated in 2022 to include brand new kitchen cabinets and countertops, new floors through the home, new paint, and a brand new master bathroom on both East and West sides spring 2023. New decking and new roof! The home feels brand new.

Each master bedroom has a king bed, and its own, amazing, large private oceanfront covered balcony overlooking the pool and beach, with unobstructed views of the ocean. Each master bedroom has a brand new master bathroom put in the spring of 2023 with walk in shower, toilet, and single vanity.

Overall, EACH side hosts:

An OCEAN FRONT Master bedroom on the top floor, with private spacious balcony overlooking the pool and direct ocean views.
A second bedroom upstairs with two sets of twin bunk beds (4 twin beds total)
A third bedroom upstairs with queen bed.
A play area/ lounge room with daybed (floor space here will fit a standard size pack-n-play).
A first floor bedroom (with queen bed), convenient to the first floor bathroom and kitchen.

Totaling 8 bedrooms, 2 play/rec rooms, and 6 bathrooms.

Fully fenced in pool area for an added safety measure. You can walk right to the beach access without needed to enter the pool area. Great for young kids. Pool and hot tub are professionally cleaned and maintained 1-2x per week depending on season.

Pool can be heated for $650 per week, just let us know ahead of your stay if you'd like to add this! Custom pricing for shorter stays.

The location. Pool and hot tub were a hit and the pool company came several times while we were there. The house was not very clean and we had to recast all the dishes before using. Also one side of the house had most of the kitchen supplies so we had to keep taking things back to our side. It would be nice if the cleaning people or those there before us would have split stuff up. Made it hard particularly in the mornings to make stuff whe. You discovered you did not have a dish or something to make an early breakfast. We had a great time and would stay again but I did think the house keeping could have done a better job

We had the most amazing vacation here! The whole place is extremely calming, with a superb pool and hot tub that made it feel like a true getaway. The walk to the beach couldn’t be easier, it’s right on one of the best stretches of beach, and the lookout is so extraordinarily beautiful. One of the highlights was the master bedroom, you can literally see the beach right from the bed, like something straight out of a movie. Everything about this place is spectacular. We felt so cozy, and the beds were unbelievably comfortable. Hands down one of the best stays we’ve ever had.

We love staying at the Sandlot! This was our 3rd year renting this cottage and we have already booked it again for summer of 2026! We are a family of 8 adults and 7 grandchildren- the layout of the rooms/ bedrooms is perfect for us. The close proximity to the gorgeous beach is a plus, along with the fenced in pool. We highly recommend this cottage to rent!

In our 25 years of vacationing in the area we have never had such trouble with a rental. I contacted the host immediately upon arrival about the filth and the problems. She told me to contact the service company & schedule service for all the issues. We shouldn't have to spend our vacation time scheduling their services. Everything should have been perfect before we arrived. Our children didn't want strangers in while their children were there. Nor did I. I continued to message her and VRBO. Neither her nor VRBO helped. Large roaches were inside & out. Hanging fly strips full of bugs on deck. Ants in the kitchen. Rat bait box under the house surrounded with sidewalk chalk. Grill not usable. No locks on back sliding doors & side east door is broken. Had to clean all the utensils, pots and pans before use. The sink in the kitchen would not drain. Dishwasher not bolted to cabinet. Mold & mildew in the bathrooms. Fitted sheets put on inside out, flat sheets not tucked in, bedspreads dirty with spots on them. Top bunk beds covered in dust & some kind of dead bugs. Air vents are rusted & covered in dust. Air conditioners on the walls covered in dust. You have to go outside under the house to do laundry & only 1 washer works well. There is exposed Romex wire in the laundry room,which is a real danger. Rusted beach chairs not usable. I have many pics but can only post 8. Beach and pool were beautiful but every family should have a clean, safe place to vacation. This truly was not it.
Dishwasher not bolted to cabinet. Bottom rack would fall out when loading due to it not being bolted in.
Sink would not drain. I had to wait for 20 minutes for this water to go down. No disposals and we made sure we emptied our plates in trash.
Rat poison box down under the home. I really don't know how the sidewalk chalk got there and hoped no children had been playing down there because it was such a hazard.
This is just a picture of one vent. There were two, one on each side. This is unacceptable. Change the grate. They are not expensive.

Lots of the little things just not right - the hot tub didn’t work, the grill was nasty and unusable, there were red ants all over the pool deck, half of the house had a mildewy/wet-dog smell to it, and the sliding glass doors were so grimy and weathered in the track system they were very hard to open and close. It took several phone calls to the management company, and messages to the owner, to finally get someone to come out to the home. They were not able to fix the hot tub, they had one can of pest spray which didn’t put much of a dent in the ants, they sprayed WD-40 on the sliding glass doors but that didn’t improve the ease of opening. They did clean the grill good enough to use, so some credit there I guess. If you are looking for a lot of bedrooms right on the water with a pool, and you don’t care about the details, this house is sufficient for that. But for the price we paid, I expected better.

Did not live up to a high end place for money we paid. Sliding glass doors ocean side were a huge struggle to open and with broken locks. One shower had standing water which was resolved towards end of stay. Mold on fence and siding. Ants a big problem around pool. Would not stay again.

We spent a week at Sandlot. Excellent location. The views from the decks were fabulous. The pool and hot tub was an added bonus. Plenty of space for our group. We breakfast on the west side and dinner on the east side. Our only suggestion is need better cookware. Bigger frying pans and updated cooking pots and storage bowls with lids. We would definitely stay here again if we visit Emerald Isle.

What is missing...

There needs to be more glasses in both areas. There definitely needs to be wine glasses...there were absolutely no glasses appropriate for wine. Clearly, people rent both sides: one side had all the plates, the other side had more than its share of pots. Very frustrating. (We did try to leave with both sides equally distributed with glasses and dishes.) Honestly, if every bed is filled, there are not enough dishes for everyone. That said, we did enjoy the cottages. The beds were comfortable and it was clear that the owners had spent a significant amount of money fixing the place up.

The home is beautiful and comfortable. Master suites have an incredible view! Spent a lot of time in the pool (heated) and hot tub. Plenty of room for everyone (10 adults) to live comfortably for 4 days. Kitchens were well equipped and plenty of bath towels provided.

Overall my family and I had a nice stay. The house is nice right on The issues we experienced starting with the roaches. Upon arrival there was a dead roach behind the trash can on the wet side of the house. When I went to the east side to check out the bedrooms I killed another roach on the steps. We went out and came back to a roach on the kitchen counter. At this point we did not have any food. Of course when it rained, the huge water bugs came out. We had to wash some of the comforters as they were dirty and looked much better when they came out of the dryer. The beds sleep wonderfully. The sheets in bedroom on the first floor on the east side had a small spot of blood on it, and also on the white shower curtain. We washed the sheets, but did not wash the shower curtain. The furniture could really use cleaning as it is visibly dirty. I left the blue kitchen mitts out in both house as they are really dirty with some kind of red sauce on them. We did not cook anything with red sauce. I actually purchased clothes and cooking utensils to use. The cooking utensils are melted and look bad. The coffee pot was not cleaned, the filter was left from the previous tenants. It was full of molded grounds. Some of the towels are wash clothes are so dingy they look dirty. We went out and purchase wash clothes and towels to use. We did wash some of your wash clothes and towels and left them on the coffee table on the west side. There was no dishwasher detergent, nor enough tissue.

Awesome!

We really loved the Trex decking and vinyl on the decks. No slivers!!! Pool and hot tub was a bonus! The common areas were appropriate size for 8 people. Other than the master bedroom the other bedrooms were quite tiny. We made it work though. Also, expected the master bath to be bigger. All in all, we were pleased with the units.
