The views are stunning and the house is well-maintained but it is extremely isolated. Unless you plan to use the chef service (only available for breakfast and dinner), you will have to make all of your own meals. Additionally, the house is 35 minutes from the nearest town, an hour from the nearest grocery store and requires a 4x4 to access it. Taxis typically cost a minimum 75 each way. There are nearby hotels but they do not allow non-guests to visit their restaurants. My friends and I enjoyed our stay but had we known about the isolation of the property, we would have stayed elsewhere.
Wonderful time at the property. Very well maintained. A bit adventurous getting to the house and 4x4 definitely necessary as indicated in listing. Food was good and the views were spectacular! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the remote location was very relaxing!
The views this property offers are breathtaking! The house was perfect for a multi family vacation! The house offers a cook service and a manager. The manager will get groceries and coordinate meals which was nice because there are not a lot of options for eating out close by.It would have been great if the house offered a list of guest favorites for meal options. The house manager was not helpful with this.It was stressful to come up with multiple meal ideas until the manager agreed to one. In general, the manager wasn't helpful when asked questions about anything. She was able to suggest a couple of places to visit but overall was more of a frustration for us. She made us feel like we were being unreasonable asking questions such as how the cook service works or suggestions for meals. I was disappointed that the master bathroom was not cleaned prior to our arrival. The toiletries on the counter were half used and the toilet was dirty. The shower hadn't been cleaned for quite some time evident by the orange slime under the faucet. I gave some grace because the stove was broken and they were trying to fix it when we arrived. The guests before us left the morning we got there. It would be smart for the house to allow a day in between guests to accommodate things that are broken and allow the staff time to clean properly. During our stay the outside grill was unusable and only two burners on the stove worked.
Overall I would recommend this house but some improvement needed
The views from this property are amazing. The host was very helpful when we had issues or questions. While the property is a little distance from groceries and restaurant's it worked well for our group. We know the area so it was not much of an issue to drive places for us.
Our group of 4 couples had an amazing stay. The views from the pool are second to none. We had a great time at the Adventure Park, white water rafting, cruising on a catamaran, and exploring Tamarindo. Nicole does a wonderful job communicating and making sure your needs are met. Yancy prepared excellent meals each day. They truly make a great team, highly recommend a stay here!
We loved our week at Hacienda Diamante! First of all, if you rent a car, heed the warnings about needing an SUV. While we didnât have to use the 4 wheel drive, getting up the very steep switchbacks to the house is a bit harrowing. However once you do, it is gorgeous.
The view is stunning! We also loved all the wildlife - we had an iguana who hung out on the roof all week, green parrots in the trees, hummingbirds and dragon flies. We loved watching all the crazies doing the Superman zip line right by the house.
The rooms were spacious, the beds were comfortable and all rooms had their own AC. We hung out in the gorgeous pool a lot. Meals were easy, we just told Nicole what we wanted for dinner and the next dayâs breakfast each day. She also shopped for snacks and drinks each day.
If you have a day to do so, have Nicole arrange a boat charter. We had a blast doing that!
We would definitely stay here again!
9 friends and I rented this house for my 40th birthday. We were overwhelmed by the property, Nicole's attentiveness (on-location concierge), outstanding food and over the top hospitality. The pictures do not do the house justice -- it is far more beautiful than any picture can capture.
A sample of the flora and fauna at the house, viewed from the pool: howler monkies, resident iguanas, parrots and lots of tropical birds, variegated squirrels, hummingbirds by the Lobelia every 20 mins... it was incredible!
A few notes:
- Absolutely 100% you need a 4x4 coming up the road. It is very steep and my friend didn't get a 4x4 and barely made it up. He swapped for a 4x4 on day 2.
- The master bedroom on the right, when walking into the house, has lower water pressure than the master on the left.
- The scorpions are not poisonous
- Listen to all Nicole's suggestions and introductions, especially her driver and diver referral. Outstanding private drivers, ask for Jose! Outstanding Diving -- Rich Coast Diving.
- Listen to Nicole's suggestions on tips. Your tip at the end of the stay will pay for the crew of 9. Her tip is included in what she suggests. As you know, Costa Rica is very expensive, so if you are able, tip more than what she suggests.
I can't recommend this house and team enough. Thank you!
Nicole, our host, was very good communicating with us. She recommended the use of their service and cook for an additional fee but we declined. We should have used them. The house is not easy to get to and is 30 minutes from restaurants. It would have been much easier. This house is beautiful and spacious with many amenities. Our only problem was with the hot water. It didn't work in 2 of the bathrooms until Nicole taught us how to reset the mechanism. Then it worked great.
Our group of 7 had an absolutely wonderful time. We all agreed that the pictures on vrbo did not do it justice. Like other people mentioned, the drive way that is shared with the superman zipline station is the steepest road I have ever been on. But is mostly paved and a 2 wheel drive was able to get up and down no problem. Nicole was an excellent resource for the area and our cook was amazing. The staff plus the location and the quality of the house made this an unforgettable vacation that all future vacations will be measured against. You will not regret vacationing here.
7 adults for 9 days very comfortable in this luxurious house. We spent a couple of our days just hanging out by the pool and playing corn hole. Plenty of room and amazing view that can't be beat. Having the Diamante Adventure Park right below and the beach 5 minutes away is an added bonus. Also not to far away from Flamingo Beach if you dont mind driving a rental. 5 stars.
After you overcome the steep incline to get there (a plus in terms of security), the Hacienda Diamante is nothing else but a mini paradise: beautiful and spacious home, fantastic infinity pool, secure grounds, total privacy, 24 -hr. security guard, peace and quiet, and reliable, friendly and helpful staff. Can't stop thinking about the whole experience. Seriously considering staying there again.
We had an excellent experience from start to finish in this house. Nicole made sure our stay was perfect; I wish she managed every place we stay.
This was a much needed R&R trip for a bunch of tired parents, and it did the trick. The house has all the amenities we needed and then some. There are plenty of fun activities close by. We loved the location. Itâs a little off the beaten path, but we appreciated the quiet.
We would certainly return to this property.
Nicole was always available to help with any requests or problems that we had. Jancy prepared any meals that we requested and every one was delicious. The view is spectacular, the zip-lining was a fun adventure for all, and the beach is a short 5 minute drive. We were all sad to leave this beautiful, very private location.
The property is true to description. The only real issue we had was the fact that we could not do our own laundry, the machines are locked in the garage. Nicole was tasked with doing all of our laundry, and since we were coming from another place it was a lot of laundry. The house is very clean and well equipped. The cook (Yantis) was fabulous as well and the french toast was the bomb! Would definitely recommend this Hacienda.
Everything was just as pictured and described. Nicole was awesome..always available to help with anything we needed. We dubbed her Nicole The Great!! Food was delicious - Yansi is terrific. A great place, definitely not to be missed if you're planning a trip to Costa Rica.
The house and the view were amazing!! Nicole & her staff were super helpful and took care of everything that we needed during our stay, and then some! The only drawback was we went during rainy season & the road up the hill to the house was difficult to get up after a bad storm. Road aside, we will definitely be back!!
Nicole and her team were amazing!! The house is beautiful, the pool is a little too cold on windy days, but overall we had a perfect stay! Highly recommended!

10/10
Our group of three couples with five children had an excellent experience at Hacienda Diamante in March of 2019. We've been staying in VRBO properties since 2011 and this home easily ranks as one of the most luxurious and well appointed properties we've visited. The concierge and cook were attentive to all the needs of the group and helped us create a truly memorable vacation. The Diamante Eco Adventure park provided an excellent day of entertainment that was practically in the back yard with almost no travel time. We also enjoyed the proximity to Playa Matapalo and spent several days exploring the beach when we could tear ourselves away from the incredible infinity pool. All in all, this home set the stage for a wonderful family vacation. I would echo the advice of other travelers who recommend renting a four wheel drive vehicle. The access road is short but steep and we found it was easier to explore the surrounding area with a rental car.
