The Naida Caves in Diu Naida caves are located close to the Diu Fort, behind the Arabian Sea. Many individuals say that these are man-made caves while others believe it to be a natural one. When the Portuguese ruled Diu, Diu Fort was their main colonial headquarters. It is believed that Portuguese while erecting the fort seized building materials from these caves which resulted in the troughs and crests of the cavern. Long after the Portuguese left the domicile, the caves were subjected to natural wear and tear which bequeathed the caves its present shape. The caves start at a much lower distance from ground level. Diu is one of the finest destinations in India. Though lesser explored as compared to several travel destinations in India, Diu boasts of forts, churches, temples and clean beaches. This Union Territory was ruled by the Portuguese for over four centuries and has an evident influence of the colonizers in everything from language to food and architecture to culture.
Daman is like those oldies who mind their own business and do their best to ignore you until you initiate a conversation. Carrying that old-world charm and a thin modern streak, this beach destination in India is likely to leave an indelible mark in your memory with its simplicity. I loved walking in Daman, crossed the entire small Daman stretch on foot to reach big Daman, and let me confess, I never felt this happy, walking. There was hardly a soul on the street, just me, the fort wall and the sea. This is why, I thought of writing a blog on Daman since I believe there are many like me, out there, looking for that break from popular places. Let me help you plan an easy trip to Daman and even though I spent only 1.5 days here, I do have some useful information for you.
