« We came to Fort Davis for a weekend getaway to visit the area and McDonald Observatory. The property was as described and very comfortable. A broom would have been helpful to sweep up the tracked in dust from the yard. Another helpful thing would be either window shades or darker curtains. The sun shone in brightly through the kitchen and bedroom windows and I can see it raising the inside temperature in the summer due to that. « Three couples, long time friends, wanted to meet near Ft. Davis to celebrate my husband’s birthday. We loved that each bedroom had private baths and king size beds. The view from the back deck was delightful, as we could see Mitre Peak in the distance. As the three women had attended Mitre Peak Girl Scout Camp in our youth, it was rather magic to see Mitre from afar. « This house is perfectly situated for exploring not just Fort Davis, but all of the surrounding areas. We were able to get to Marfa in 20 minutes, and Balmorhea in 30. It’s walkable to the Main Street/downtown area where you can pop into funky shops and meet the lovely locals. We must have gone to the Stone Village Market at least once a day during our stay for iced coffee, food, and an insanely delicious banana cream pie.We felt at ease in this house, and very much enjoyed all of the thoughtful...

« We stayed at this beautiful location to explore west Texas - Big Bend, McDonald Observatory, and Ft. Davis. My daughter loved that we could see the observatory telescope domes from the house. Even though it is a bit further from Big Bend, it made for beautiful drives. We loved the amazing sunrises and sunsets.
